Thumbs up Shout! Factory signs ITV Studios deal

Quote:
Home entertainment agreement will see Shout! Factory distribute ITV Studios Global Entertainment films in North America.

North American distributor Shout! Factory and UK distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) have secured a deal to partner on home entertainment and digital distribution.

The agreement will see an extensive library of acclaimed cinema classics back to the home entertainment marketplace in the US and Canada.

Titles include Sophie’s Choice; On Golden Pond; The Eagle Has Landed; The Last Unicorn; The Tamarind Seed; Capricorn One; The Cassandra Crossing; Brief Encounter; Saturn 3; The Merchant of Venice; Voyage of the Damned and The Boys from Brazil.

Some of these titles have never been available on Blu-ray or DVD. In addition, bonus content is currently in development by Shout! Factory for special editions and double features.

Every one of these films is excellent in it's own way. Very excited to get these.

Many of these films have been available for years as region-free Blu-rays in the UK. My guess is that Shout uses those existing transfers for their versions.

Some of these are already up for pre-order at Amazon and they are DVD only so not all will get blu ray releases.

Isn't Glengarry Glen Ross owned by ITV? I'm a little suprised it wasn't part of the deal. I already own the import anyway, but I'm hoping it'll turn up someday with the two laserdisc commentaries. I hear the Jack Lemmon one is very insightful.

Are you sure that you're not referring to previous DVD releases by other companies?

I'm sure that all titles mentioned in press release will find their way on Blu-ray in not too distant future. Some of them already did (Saturn 3, The Eagle Has Landed).

Very exciting news and another solid team-up for Shout Factory. These releases are definitely going to be some fun!

I figured I'd be an old poop by the time On Golden Pond made it to Blu-ray.

I wonder if their Last Unicorn will be better than the version that is already out on blu here.

Brief Encounter is already out from Criterion--though not individually as a bd.
as someone said, many of these titles were released in the UK years ago. so not holding my breath for new transfers. For those people that have never imported I guess it's good news for sure.
though somehow titles like Brief Encounter hardly scream Shout Factory release.
definitely want On Golden Pond; saw that one in the theater back in the day.

Well, there goes my theory of Shout! having a deal with Lionsgate (though I was right about one thing; they got Sophie's Choice now).

Cliff, will films like Sophie's Choice and Boys From Brazil feature their original distributor logos (Universal and Fox respectively for example)?

I'd like to see The Last Seduction (1994) on blu-ray. I believe this title is in their library, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice to see distributors like Shout, Twilight Time and Olive releasing catalog titles, many of which I never thought would see the light of day on Blu ray.

Another vote for CAPRICORN ONE.

It's "The thinking man's HANGAR I8."

This is great news, shout always seems to do a great job on their releases, and there's a lot of great titles held by ITV.

Only four ITV titles got a UK blu-ray release:

The Eagle Has Landed
Capricorn One
The Boys From Brazil
Escape to Athena
