Default GT5 Prologue won't be free?!?

It looks like Sony will be charging us for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. This is pretty sad. I mean we are expected to pay for what is essentially a demo? What are your thoughts?

Even if it was only a demo - I think the Prologue will be really, really good. Maybe, Sony will work out a deal so that people that own Prologue will get a discount on Gran Turismo when it is released.

Prolouges have never been free.

You are paying a small price for 30-40% of the game, most of which will transfer over to the full game.

Key Features:

* The first ever Gran Turismo title with online racing: drive online against up to 16 other Gran Turismo aces
* Race a total of over 40 stunning, high-performance cars
* Race on seriously realistic, real life tracks including the Eiger Nordwand, the London City Track and Suzuka – then race them in reverse and with alternative routes
* All-new physics engine means true next-generation vehicle handling
* All-new and improved opponent AI for a nail-biting race experience
* Access to Gran Turismo TV : a world of great motoring TV programming online
* Online Dealership: Access to car manufacturers online
* My Garage - a personalised homepage feature with friends, chat and personal game records
* Quick Tune facility allows you to adjust power, tyres, suspension and more
* All in stunning High Definition at 1080p (race: 1080p-60fps, replay: 1080p-30fps)

Gran Turismo 5 – the full title – launches in 2008. Until then, there’s enough ultra-realistic, high-speed racing in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3™ to keep your accelerator firmly to the floor for the rest of the year. http://www.scee.presscentre.com/Cont...9&NewsAreaID=2

The last GT4 prolouge sold over 1 million copies and it was not released in the US because people think it's a scam.

xmas 08, your either paying for prolouge or no gt (unless its 3 or 4) for another 15 months, by then paramount will practically be back.

so tell me this. PD said that it takes 180 days for 1 man to make 1 car, so given a 8 hour work day we have 1440 man hours for 1 car and their are 10 of them, so it took 14,400 man hours to make the cars. now you have 4 environments i believe, will be nice and say all 4 of them took half the time for of the cars, so 7,200 hours. then you have to design a brand new engine for the game just add another 2,000 hours, and then set up servers and maintain them and indefinite amount of work and then work with gt tv. so tell me this would you work for 25,000 hours or pay your men to work for 25,000 hours THEN work some more to maintain the servers and you would just stand outside your local walmart and hand out freebies for your new game and take massive finanical losses on it? i don't think so, these ppl have to make money. gt5 will be a bargin for only 60 bucks, so much work has gone into this game and it already shows, expect microtransactions, you get what you pay for and for me gt5 is well worth the money.

U know, i dont know what is your problem with my opinion... but unless u dont let me have it... i might as well start to poke some holes that elaborate flaw hive story of yours, just for fun...

so tell me if it would be so damn expensive to make 3d art of car (sounds like these dudes draw one line per day) why wouldnt they just drive real cars in and 3d scan them?

It does sound like it has quite a lot there to keep me entertained for a while, especially the GT TV thing. 16 car online sounds wicked too. Waiting until christmas 08 for the full version is gonna suck.

I hope its $30 though. I wonder if they'd let you trade in your prologue copy for atleast some credit when the full version comes out.

"The Netherlands based site PS3 Only have received pricing information from Sony in regards to the Blu-ray version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. According to the site, Sony has stated that the retail version of GT5 Prologue will run a slightly-expensive 45 Euros (about $60 American)."

------------------

"UK, September 12, 2007 - SCEE has quashed internet rumours suggesting that the Blu-ray version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will cost 45 Euros when it launches in Europe later this year. According to Sony, these reports are "categorically incorrect", with no decisions regarding price currently made."

Right now I don't believe the claims that the downloadable version will be free or that the Blu-ray Disc version will be full-priced. I'd wait until SCE actually announce something themselves.
