It's saturday, I'm at work, I have 15 more long minutes, & I'm bored. I have a small "all-in-one" radio by my desk. Hmmm...cassette deck. Click...eject. Nice & fluid movement. I then had a remember when moment. Very vividly, I remember going to J.C. Penny's (yes kids) & seeing my first dual cassette deck with soft eject
![]() Eventually, they worked their way to boomboxes & yours truly was king for a month after getting one of the first offerings. Imagine 6 or 7 eight-year old boys, standing in circle around a boombox, watching a cassette tape eject. Last edited by dvs1270; 03-07-2010 at 12:06 AM. |

I remember being the first kid to roll into school with a portable cassette player that had...AUTO REVERSE!
I blew my buddies minds! "Hey watch this, side A is finishing...click...music again!" "OMG BILL, YOU DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO FLIP THE TAPE!" |

ACK! You beat me to it. I wasn't the first for that though, my buddy Corey was. He had a Sony deck in his car and could "seek" forward and backward.

I had a buddy that bought a cassette deck for his car. The security for it was to remove the entire unit, and take it with you. Not the faceplate, and not some flip around to disguise unit. But to pull on a handle and remove the entire deck and take it with you. And I thought it was the coolest thing.

I also had the Sony Diskman for Car. It ESP (electronic shock protection that read 5 seconds ahead and buffered the audio so there'd be no skipping) and cd to cassette adapter. At the time, the Car diskman was $200 bucks, a cheap CD deck was $400! |
