Default HELP - New Samsung LED

My wife called me from Best Buy last night to inform me she purchased a 55" Samsung LED 7000 1 UN55C7000WF.

The sales men tried telling her she needed special hdmi cabels since the set has 240hsz, can someone confirm if this is true.

Thanks for the help.

Best Buy has been saying that for years. They told me the same thing when I bought my 120 Hz TV last year. The truth is, that's where they make their money. Any 1.3a HDMI cable will do.

Yep, when I first bought my TV a few yrs ago, not knowing any better I bought the 100.00 Monster Hdmi, I fell for "you need this for the best picture speech"

I fell for it too, last year. $70 Rocketfish. Nothing wrong with the cable, it works great. But I've bought 2 from monoprice since then (6' and 35' for my projector) and I can't tell the difference. We all live and learn.

Thanks for the responses guys. I saw your post progers in the ed forum.. I started the thread just to ensure no one would get upset about getting off topic.

I will be placing my order today with monoprice.. I get the TV tomorrow and then they are coming back on 05/16 to mount it for me.

OK..

What Best Buy meant was that you need an HDMI 1.4a for your new tv. WHY? because that is the only cable that will support 3D technology. if you dont do 3D, dont worry about it.

Thanks for the original post. I am looking into getting a similar TV (probably at best buy) I'm glad to know I don't need a new HDMI cable.

I only buy my cables from dcables.net. Never had a problem and the lowest price I've seen...

I let them get me but only once lol. I got a Rocketfish..it's fine but not worth $60-70 it also doesn't bend well at all. The flexibility sucks. So now I go with mediabridge off Amazon. $10 for a $6 ft cable..
