Germany 'Serpico' released on 6th May - hopefully with non-forced subtitles!

Kinowelt are releasing 'Serpico' on 6th May. According to the Amazon.de site, the release will have a choice of German, French or Spanish subtitles. As there are three possible sets of subtitles rather than just one, am I correct in assuming they must be optional, so that it will be possible to play the disc with no subtitles displayed?

I'm not aware of a Kinowelt release with non-optional subtitles. I have a lot of their discs and always use the english audio track. There was not one where the subtitles were non-optional.

Okay, I looked at some reviews of recent Kinowelt releases like Universal Soldier. That one for instance has forced subtitles. As the release of Serpico is in two days I'll try to find a review a.s.a.p. and will keep you informed.

Found two reviews of the Blu-ray in German. The quality of the Disc seems to be good. A bit unstable in terms of image sharpness, but I think it could be inherited from the original film source, and the age of the Movie. None of the reviews said something about imposed subtitles. And for me it seems it's the same release as the french Studio-Canal, audio and subtitles are exactly the same on both releases.

well if I can get confirmation that there are no forced subs, I'll be ordering this one.
I don't know of any German releases with forced subs, so it most likely doesn't have them.
I had the French HD DVD that had the forced subs.
EDIT: a member pmed me that the French bd has no forced subs, and that most likely all the discs are the same.
so good news!

I'm waiting for the price to go down a bit.
It is still quite high for this title imo.
I definitely hope to get it soon.
if it's the same as the original HD DVD, it is pretty good imo.
I had that title for a while, and at least it looks quite filmlike.
nice and gritty and grainy.
I was pleased enough with it at the time.

It's fine - and, just to confirm, the German subtitles are optional.
