Default Independence Day

For those who have it, how superior is it to the DVD version? It is one of my all-time favorite flicks and I am debating whether I want to pick it up or not.

It's fantastic. There are tons of reviews of the blu-ray online. You should have no trouble finding them with a quick search.

If it's your favorite movie, I see no need to debate picking it up.

The DVD copy that I had defines HORRID. I almost prefer watching the VHS.

The BD is a HUGEE improvement.

Well I own two copies of it on DVD and a VHS so unless its absolutely spectacular, I don't see a reason to pick up a fourth. I figure I would ask for some personal opinions before I read the review.

It's one of my all-time favorite movies as well, and I agree with benricci. I also agree with the review for it that is on this site. It is a large jump in both PQ and AQ. I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up for the right price.

Independence Day is near RQ picture and RQ audio. The only knock I have on it is how fake the white house looks in that scene where they blast it to kingdom come.

ID4 on BD is easily among the best FOX BDs out there.
It's just a smidge short of reference quality (FOX's "I Robot" is ref. quality), but I would buy ID4 in a heartbeat!!!!
I have it, and it rocks my cradle!!

Welcome to the forum! It is definitely worth the upgrade. I know a lot of people were ticked because of the lack of extra features and no extended edition but you can pick it up cheap now.

if this is your favorite movie (or one of them), this isn't even a debate. you MUST get it. just because you have 3 copies of it doesn't change the fact that the 4th copy will be 6-7 times better in quality.

if i have 3 chevy's in my driveway, that won't stop me buying a ferrari now will it?

I've got ID4 on VHS, DVD and Blu.

As far as the Ferrari goes, go with the F430.

I got the blu and compared it to my dvd copy. The blu looked sharper with more detail and the AQ had sounds I couldn't hear as clearly on the dvd.
If you love this movie as I do it's a no brainer

I still think the action scenes are louder than most blu rays. The spaceships have huge bass

HD is telling...I thought they REALLY blew-up the White House when I saw it in the theater back in the day! Was that before, or after the Clinton scandal?!?!

I have to completely agree. In fact, I demo'd the difference to a friend and he was floored both visually and... with his ears.

Totally worth it, especially if you love the film.
