Interesting! So I guess the post's round there parts saying standalone's have a better PQ are either whoo-ha, or the placebo effect?

ive seen a PS3 playing one. its far more glitchy and almost makes it look like a video game.

I have the 2nd Gen Sony and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I have a BDP-S300 and my daughter has a PS3 hooked up to the same TV. (56" DLP 1080P) The S300 tends to has a slightly sharper picture, but to be honest, unless you are looking for a difference or could actually play them side by side on the same tv (split screen), the diff is negligable.

Adjusting the TV setting could reverse my decision too, the way I have it set up is for my likeing.

You must've seen one of the bad players that falls into the .9% of bad PS3's then because I haven't seen any glitches so far as far as playback and I have a BDP-S1 also.

never had a glitch on bluray playback on my PS3 either...

have heard of standalone players having trouble with pirates of the caribbean menu...PS3 was smooth as a whistle.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about.. I got those two side-by-side on the same 1080p TV and see no obvious difference.

I have no idea what you are talking about. My PS3 runs DVDs and BDs beautifully. They do not look like video games, in fact they look better than any player I've ever had, stand-alone or not.
