Default Those that use the word "neutral" - please read

I could care less which format you pick, however before you start spouting that your "Format Neutral", you need to go read the definition of Neutral. However in case you can't find it or are too lazy, here it is...

neu·tral /ˈnutrəl, ˈnyu-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[noo-truhl, nyoo-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. not taking part or giving assistance in a dispute or war between others: a neutral nation during World War II.
2. not aligned with or supporting any side or position in a controversy: The arbitrator was absolutely neutral.
3. of or belonging to a neutral state or party: neutral territory.

So, to those that say they are "Neutral", your not. You support both sides. To be "Neutral", you need to stick with DVD's

Nuff said, thanks for reading.

People say format neutral, deal with it. You spouting off about them spouting off won't do anything.

Does referring to little green people from other planets as aliens offend anyone here????

NO?

Ok...so they are aliens...and if they sneak into this country we could refer to them as undocumented aliens...NOT ILLEGAL!!!! Unless they go directly to INS and apply for their green card...then what are they called?
Documented aliens?

That's almost as funny as people on this forum calling HD-DVD users "fanboys".

How the offenders do not realize they themselves are "BD fanboys" (the gayest F'N term ever coined by the way) is hi-larious.

And what about the poor fangirls of the world? Who even mentions them? Do they not feel strongly about their format?

Chicks already have enough slang terms going for them, they don't need another.

I think Nuteral works just fine they are supporting both sides therefore not giving giving an upperhand to either side. Sweden was nuteral during ww2 and they sold all kinds of stuff to both sides.

I guess all automobiles will have to re-word "neutral" to something else, since it doesn't really match up with any of the provided examples.

I thought we already cleared this up. People who are format "neutral" are officially called hippies...2 formats + 1 player = PEACE.

No one listens that "standalone" applies to PS3 as well, since it plays out of the box according to the dictionary

DEDICATED is the term

Good points OP. Regardless, I consider those who are "format-neutral" for a lack of a better term are simply format-saboteurs--as they aren't helping the format war situation, but rather are making general HD optical formats to stagnate rather than helping either platform. So, in essence, format-saboteurs. IMO, pick a side so that one or the other may flourish and so we can enjoy a universal format. Yes, I think it will definitely be Blu-ray.

Good post

My whole point of this thread was to not say format "Neutral" was invald. I just wanted to point out a word that people are throwing around as if they are gods saving grace. They come into conversations say "oh, I am FORMAT NEUTRAL" pffft! Your not. Your nothing really. Format NEUTRAL means you don't support EITHER format.

So call it what you want - I was just making a little point

They should be called "I will buy anything".

Obviously that's wrong, if you purchase a movie for either format, you're SUPPORTING that format with your purchase. Just because it doesn't fit your agenda doesn't make it true.

No its not. Format Neutral = You buy NEITHER format and stay with DVD.

Buying BOTH formats means nothing more than you out to watch all the latest movies in HD. Nothing more. It means you have no allegiance to any one format.

Don't twist this around. Its clear cut. You want to argue with the definition. Talk to Webster.

Sorry buddy, you're the one doing the twisting, not to mention getting psycho with this whole "allegiance" deal. What's clear cut is when you make a purchase for either format, you support that format with your purchase. Argue that all you want, the truth hurts.
