Default Please Help with player!!

I have a Panasonic DMP BD80 that i am trying to do do a firmware update via internet but it wont seem to connect. I am running an ethernet cable straight from my cable modem into the back of the player and it wont pick it up for some reason. I just updated my Panasonic G25 so i know its not an issue with the modem? Can anyone tell me what this might be? I have messed around with it for 30 minutes to no avail. Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated.

Have you setup the player to have access to the internet already? On page 17 it tells the settings to connect. If you have already done this.

You can always update manually with a cd. Good Luck

oddly enough it appears as if you have to go through a router first then into the bd80, instead of straight from modem into bd80. that is strange to me.

Most modems get locked to an individual/specific mac address. For example, if the modem was previously hooked up to a computer then it's probably still mapped to your computer's mac address.

To reset this, disconnect the ethernet cable from the modem. Unplug the modem and let it sit for a few minutes. Plug the power cord back into the modem and let it reboot. Now, plug in an ethernet cable from your blu-ray player into the modem. Within a few minutes your player should be able to connect to the internet.

You'll have to repeat these steps if you want your previous equipment (e.g. computer) to work with the modem.

The BD80 needs something to give it an IP address. That's usually the router part of the modem. Make sure DHCP is ON in the BD80.
