Have you setup the player to have access to the internet already? On page 17 it tells the settings to connect. If you have already done this.

To reset this, disconnect the ethernet cable from the modem. Unplug the modem and let it sit for a few minutes. Plug the power cord back into the modem and let it reboot. Now, plug in an ethernet cable from your blu-ray player into the modem. Within a few minutes your player should be able to connect to the internet. You'll have to repeat these steps if you want your previous equipment (e.g. computer) to work with the modem. |

The BD80 needs something to give it an IP address. That's usually the router part of the modem. Make sure DHCP is ON in the BD80.
