Default A bad movie equals good news for Blu-Ray

I will have to say that I'm not a fan of High School Musical 2... BUT the coming release of High School Musical 2: Extended Edition on Blu-Ray will mean HUGE sales for our side.

A total of 17.24 million viewers watched the movie on TV making it the highest viewed TV movie ever.

If you divide that in half (assuming only half will buy the Blu-Ray version opposed to standard) that still means that 8.5ish million copies of it should sell.

And IMO that's a lot of freaking points for our side.

First we would have to sell that many players, not including people who don't have HDTV's which are actually alot of people out there.

Yet someone else can say "A good movie equals good news." I haven't seen it myself, I can't stand watching SD channels anymore, but the rest of my family loved it and can't wait for the Blu-ray release. My eldest daughter even said it was ok to delete it since she knows she'll like it HD better.

Disney should do some promotion of the title on their magical tour through the malls. That's how they'd push some players and more software.

not to burst your bubble, but there's no way that even half of those people will be buying the blu-ray. You say 17.24 million people watched it, well how many of those didn't even like it? How many of those have HDTV? how many own BD players? I think you'll see those numbers drop dramatically. That's not to say that it won't get a lot of sales, but don't get too over-excited.

Either way. That movie was extremely low budget, yet will turn a huge profit for Disney. Even if 1/4 of the viewers buy on Blu-ray it's still a HUGE success for us.

I agree.

And watching it free on TV is not the same as buying it on DVD or anthing else for that matter. Maybe seeing it once is enough?

I would say it is likely to be less than 30%.
Only about 30% of homes have an HD set-up and who knows how many of them are using BD? And how many even know what BD is or how to hook it up?
It might indeed make some sales, but I don't expect to even have 1/2 mil copies sell, at least not for a while.

Well, to another subject, since I don't want to create another thread...

Is there anywhere that takes into account Ebay store sells? Or are those unknown like wal-mart?

I haven't seen it (I have both versions TiVo'ed, including HSM2 in HD), but I expect it to be a HUGE seller for Blu-ray...
