Default BD-ROM Security

I didn't know if this was posted before but I found it on the internet if anyone is interested in reading it. It discusses BD-ROM security and some of its architecture in comparison to HD-DVD. I don't know how accurate it still is but it is interesting. The forum wouldn't let me attach a PDF this size (its max size is 19kb).

Haha. I think to beat HD DVD, the Hacker has great role. The HD disc has lower security. With the help of hacker, the pirate of HD DVD titles can be done. Then the BD version "Transformers" could be seen. just kidding....haha

HD-DVD is already being cracked (as well as the Blu-ray without BD+). I have a feeling that BD+ will be cracked too but not for some time. In my mind this gives the studios a comfort level with distributing their movies but I believe what can be done can be undone. It just depends on how fast.

Default Drm

This might not be a welcome post on a Sony site, but:

DRM will always be cracked because the end user is given both the lock and the key, just scrambled and concealed on the disc/player. So no DRM actually works in the long run. It does, however, cause trouble for the legal owners: hdmi handshake issues, macrovision display issues, and other failure to play events.

It's a lot like the TSA: doesn't actually do much good, just makes the money people feel better.

In 25 years, when BOTH HDM formats are gone/obsolete, how many of us will be able to play our library of legal discs? Very few of us thanks to drm.

My post wasn't mean to be "crack" driven. It was meant to provide some background information on BD-ROM security.

Right, but these posts are "related"... and it's such an unfortunate situation that DRM exists at all... the few spoil it for the many!
