Default Hard to find HD-DVD in Australia

G'day all,

I am an avid Blu-ray supporter, I now have 40 BD titles. One thing I've noticed, and it is a very good thing, is it is quite hard to find HD-DVDs near me (I live in Brisbane, Queensland the 2nd largest state in the country) and I've travelled abit recently around the country and found the same thing, (to anyone who also lives in Australia correct me if I am wrong). This can only be a good thing. YAY Blu-ray.

Just thought I would post that note to help boost our spirits more.

Last week I saw my first HD-DUD player last week. It had a big sign above it suprise your dad and beside it a great big rack of Blu-ray disc's (no - HD-DUD disc's) I had a grin all night dad will be infor a suprsie (and the rest of the family) when they shove a Blu-ray disc in. There was no advertising it was HD-DUD, just the little logo near the Toshiba logo and at sale price of $1,350 don't try and convince me about how much cheaper the players are. I can't comment on the price of the media, I'm yet to see one red one for sale, I have only seen one shop copy not for sale, as for Blu all you have to see is my low bank balance, I'm not game to go into a number of shops I see, I buy.

Being that Microsoft is a US company that doesn't fair too well in other markets (mainly asia) i'm not supprised that there's no dud's out there.

i'm in Adelaide.

Sanity has a quite a few titles of HD-DVD. They have a 2 for $50 special. Mainly Universal titles.

Ezy DVD, Quickflix and Sanity are the only 3 places I think stock HD-DVD titles. Not sure about Myer or David Jones. Going all the way to the fourth floor isn't worth the effort.

Big W, Target and K Mart have a small but an ok selection of Blu-ray titles, however they do not stock HD-DVDs.

JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman are Blu-ray exclusive I think. Especially JB Hi-Fi.

Yep Myer (they made a press release saying they weren't going to stock HD-Disks. It took a bit to find out the price as it was package and I had to interrogate the sales person (when I found them). I guess they are true to their word no disc's, just the players. Harvey Norman, their actions are pure Blu. They even stock rewritable Blu-ray disc's (they don't stock any movies, not even on DVD, at least the stores I have been in, but Blu-ray players everywhere. Sanity & HMV (I think now the same company) at Chadstone only stock Blu-ray but will order HD-DUD in. The big games store EB Games don't even stock the XBOX add on.

In response to the comment about Microsoft in Asia, Microsoft's software is VERY big in Australia
