Default Would my wife enjoy Band of Brothers?

she says she doesn't like war movies, but i hear that BOB is epic in every sense of the word (plus it is technically not a movie). i don't know any females who have seen BOB, so just wondering...

My gf does not like war films. I had her watch an episode of BOB, and her mind did not change.

If she doesn't like war movies than chances are she won't like BOB either. The fact it's an epic series doesn't come into play. Most women I know aren't into war movies either, I think it's a gender thing. Just like we don't like "chick-flicks".

You’re missing out then if you don’t like “chick flicks”.

For the record, I also like war films provided they’re good ones.

My wife liked it...... not "Wow that was awesome" but more "That was pretty good"

If your wife doesn't like war movies, I doubt she'd like this though.

LOL...good point perhaps! I will admit there are a few that I don't mind.

Never heard of chick flicks and I only like war media if I'm in the right mood, it tends to be depressing.

I think there are some serious overgeneralizations about women and war movies. It is an awesome series, and if she's a history buff, the historical significance may override the gore and war scenes. I would suggest having her watch an episode and see if she likes it enough to continue. I think the men speaking at the end of the episodes who were actually there is especially touching, and everyone should give the series a TRY, whether they end up finishing it or not.

War films are hit or miss. I enjoy the mainstream ones, like "A Bridge Too Far, Pearl Harbour [hurr hurr], Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now" but I have never met a girl to like war movies.

I agree start with "Why We Fight" and see how she like it but I am sure if you start from Episode 1,she won't like it.

My wife is not a big fan of war films, but she has seen Band of Brothers at least twice and likes it. It's not just a war film, it's a quality film/series.

LOL I seriously doubt most wives would like this, it's long, violent and very sad.

To answer the OP question i have to give an example of what i saw yesterday:
I went to see District 9. and there this woman sitting on my left and her husband/boyfriend on her left. There is a scene about weapon testing that just did it for her. they never finished the movie. Actually the boyfriend walked out first then 15 mins later she walked out.

Some people just hate violence period. I get sick watching movies like hostel and cabin fever, saw... but i sit down and watch gladiator, saving private ryan, ....munich

BOB is unique in the veteran commentary and it based on their story. unless she finds that or their stories entriguing, i wouldn't bother. but you never know.

I would not count on it. BoB is great, but it is a guy's series. My wife would have no part of it.

I don't see the logic in starting a war series, or any other series/movie for that matter, anywhere but the beginning. Everyone knows what happened in those concentration camps and i don't think the sentimentality of the episode is gonna trick her into feeling attachment to characters she doesn't even know. If she doesn't like war movies then she probably won't like it anyways, but the first episode has no fighting and is more of a get to know the characters and dynamics of the division, which might appeal to her more than blood and guts, which are soon to follow. Who knows, maybe she's an old fan of the show "Friends" and will find it interesting to see good guy Ross in the role of a buttwipe. If there's anything we can agree on, it's that his character in BOB is a complete tool.
