Default Fence walkers frustrate me no end

I feel that I can rant in here, since it is the off topic forum.

But how dumb (no offense) can people be to actually buy Blu's and Dud's at the same time?

Sure you get most movies, but you're also helping to prolong a war that is ALREADY TOO LONG.

Also why would you support an inferior product (duds) when you know that when Blu wins the SAME movies will be out on Blu... Can people seriously not wait that long for a movie?

I don't get it.

It's lame.

Perhaps because to some, it is more about the movie, and less about the 'war' or studios. It is nice knowing that every HD movie at get released, I can watch. Doesn't matter what studio or format.

Should I say that BR supporters are dumb because instead purchase the movie on SD DVD - why not just wait a couple years and get it on BR?

For me, it is all about the movies. But I guess that is dumb.

That's true as well if the war were to end, right?

This is a difference in opinion between those who think the ultimate survival and flourishing of HDM requires the war to end (pick a side), and those who want to have all the choice today (neutrality).

This is a Blu-ray support site, and not a neutral HD media site. So, the tendency will be for the attitude to be against neutrality.

It is true IF the war was to end. Take a look at Beta vs VHS. How long did it take for that to end? I am not willing to wait that long. I have a High Def TV now. I have limited choices for what I can watch in HD. I'm not going to limit myself even further by picking a side.

I also think that 2 formats for today is ok and not hurting things. If anything, I think it can help promote both. Someone getting in cheaply with HD DVD will likely want the movies they are missing out on on blu-ray and will get a blu-ray player.

Sales are showing that eventually blu-ray will win. I don't go to the movies, so I already wait 6 months to see a new release. Why should I have to wait indefinetely?

If anything, people should be more upset that those that are truly sitting on the fence, not buying anything. Those that are waiting for a winner to be determined could actually help increase the pace of this war and end it sooner.

calmmmmmm dowwwwnnnn man. first of all... what war? zomg omfg !!1! lets go to war. it really isnt a big deal. the heads of both HD dvd and Blu Ray are prolly sitting together right now laughing at all of us spending more on movies and players and on top of it... since there are two sides to this "war" as you called it we have both sides thinking like you claiming that if you buy more of one kind the other one will die out. im sure theres another idiot on a HD DVD site saying the exact same thing. what if people started doing it! either way you look at it... you lose.
and lets say you do win the war... who cares. ur gonna run through the streets screaming out that its only blu ray now!!! extra extra... get a life. you want amazing quality try going outside for a while/
and stop your crying... ur lame

It's funny that you would come onto a blu-ray sight and run your mouth to a blu-ray supporter.

No I may not run out through the streets screaming. But there does need to be an end to the crap that these studios are putting out there.

Most people that are buying one or the other format have already bought the STD dvd. So now they buy it on HD-DVD that makes 2 purchases. Then Blu-ray wins, your HD-DVD player breaks and you have to buy the SAME movie a third time on Blu-ray.

It's silly and isn't smart. The smart thing to do is to support the better format, to show studios that they can't just shit around with your money.

Buying both formats makes the studios realize that most people are so stupid that they will buy whatever crap is put out there with out thinking about it first.

I agree that switching from STD to Blu is a waste of money (since blu's are so expensive at the moment).

And it's not serious enough for me to go to stores holding signs.

But it is important enough to 1) Vent my frusteration that companies are being reduclous and wasteing my time. 2) talk to other like minded fellows so that we can hopefully end this crap before 5 years pass and we're no where near done with it.

And if there's a title I HAVE to have that isn't on Blu I'll just buy it on STD until it comes out on blu then give it to one of my brothers or sister.

I finally phased all my VHS's out a while back... Though I didn't want to give up the money wasted on them...

I don't see myself spending too much money on ANY dvd or tv show on dvd... But LOST is coming to BD so I will probably waste cash on that.

But yeah, I have like 200 STD dvds... I'm not getting rid of them for a while, unless I can talk someone into buying them at a fair price from me.

But with so many people downloading movies now days it's hard to even do that.

I suppose it wasn't smart then to purchase a movie on VHS, and then Laserdisc, then DVD, then BR, etc. Or maybe I shouldn't have purchased music tapes, or CD, or SACD/DVD-A, etc.

If there is something I want to watch, I will buy it. I am not concerned that the $20 HD-DVD I am buying might have to be replaced in 5+ years.

I never bought Laserdisc. Before my time.

But there is a COMPLETE difference in buying something on VHS, DVD, Blu... When formats become outdated they can be replaced.

But it's silly to replace something with a format that's barely holding on by threads.

It is not different at all. When I purchased a tape or DVD, I knew that at some point the tech would change and I would probably have to repurchase certain titles. Big deal.

And HD DVD is not barely holding on - not even close. If everything was available in BR, then I could see your point that it might be silly to purchase HD DVD - but that is not the case. If you want to watch all the movies available in HD, you need both BR and HD DVD. Watching movies in HD is more important to me then the formats.

Well, then you should take into account that most AAA titles will be held back till after the war is over

Then, no insult intended, it is people like you that frustrate me to no end. You are one of the MAIN causes this crap is still going on.

Why by red when you know blu is superior? I guess I'm just more patient than others.

Aren't you the one who maybe just today finally bought a BR player? I have had one for several months, and have purchased around 40 BR movies and get 2 every week. And like I said, red is superior when there is no blu - what is so difficult to understand? I would say I have done much more than you to support the format.

And you don't even have a freaking HDTV. Enjoy watching your BR discs on your SDTV. Yea, thanks for all your support.
