HD-DVD discs are still to be sold. Blu-ray will be displayed prominently. Blu-ray disc players will be sold exclusively in stores while the website will still have HD-DVD players. No stores will sell HD-DVD players.

They will continue to sell the 360 add-on as far as I know. I think the announcement specified that they would sell strictly Bluray STAND ALONE players (not counting the PS3) and NOT HDDVD Stand Alone Players (Not including the 360 Add-on). And I think they just said "For the Holiday Season"
So the nice endcap for Bluray is about it. Just remember you wont be seeing any nice HDDVD endcaps ![]() |

Very odd, because they are not suppose to sell them (stand-alone players) in stores, just on-line...

You mean an up-sampling DVD player... not and HD-DVD player.
That has nothing to do with it. Plus the website will still sell HD-DVD payers. They should stop selling them in stores for the holiday shopping season. I know my target has very very few at all to choose from, so I am waiting for them to update the displays. |

Unless something changed, Target will still sell the HD-DVD add-on for 360. They have not carried any HD/Blu player in stored except for the PS3 and the add-on for 360. This Fall/Winter, they will be exclusively selling a standalone Blu-Ray player in stores other then the previously mention PS3 and HD-DVD add-on for Xbox360. There will be no standalone HD-DVD player sold in stores. I believe as of now there are no HD-DVD players on Target.com, but that is the only place that Target will sell HD-DVD players for the time being.
I am not sure when Target will begin selling the standalone Blu player or feature the Sony Blu-Ray endcap, but in the upcoming weeks Target stores will be transitioning the Electronics department for its new set. Target transitions departments two times a year. The transition will be the major set for the next 6 months with revisions taking care of minor changes to remove or add product between that time. The Entertainment department (music, movies and books) normally transitions a week before or after Electronics. When Entertainment transitions, I hear some stores will be expanding the Blu-Ray section to an 8 feet display and HD-DVD to 4 feet. For now most stores have one 4 foot section for for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray combined. These changes depend on a number of factors which include store size, market the store is in, competition around the store , sales and other factors. |

The Target that I mostly shop at has doubled their Blu-Ray space, but the HD DVD space is still the same, two rows. Granted four rows of BDs is not a lot, but it is a start and it is still a couple months until the Holiday shopping season. Just wait until Halloween is over.

I think Target agreed to also do Blu-Ray endcaps, and not HD-DVD endcaps. target will certainly push the Blu-ray more than HD-DVD, but they still carry them.
What I find amusing is that my Targets epitomize the 2:1 ratio. 4 rows for Blu-Ray, 2 rows for HD-DVD. If you add in the Blu-Rays they have in the PS3 section, then that adds to it. |
