Default LCD TVs

Any idea on when the price for an LCD TV will go down?

Slowly and gradually happening every day.

Usually when the "next year's" models come out in the Fall, the current and previous years' models get cut. Sometimes they get cut shortly BEFORE the new stuff gets released.

The best you can do is just keep an eye out.

They have been consistently going down for the last few years now. I paid £1,275 for a 26" Toshiba 20 months ago without HDMI inputs or digital tuner. Seemed like a good deal at the time as it retailed for £2,000, (and was a brand new model). Nowadays you can get a 37" Tosh lcd with 2 HDMI, Freeview digital tuner etc. for less than £100 more, (£1,350 ish). A 32" model is around £850. Compare this to crt tv sets from 5 years ago. A top 32" set would have been £1,000+ even online and a 36" around £1,500+. I think lcd tvs are very reasonably priced already and the trend is downwards. Especially for larger screen sizes it would seem. Personally I'm looking to new technology for my next set. SXRD rear pro or SED. And a 1080p native display obviously.

Make sure you keep an eye on the technologies nowadays.
However, SED won't provide any direct market changes because the introduction price will be too high to compete with LCD. Prices will be comparable to the introduction prices of LCD, by a Toshiba & Kodak SED representative.

LCD TVs prices will keep falling, but the standard screen size is changing year to year. In 2005, the standard was 45", 46", now it's 47" for sure. Now it's only one inch, but the screen sizes of the overall offers will continue to increase, while the price for the previous standard screensizes will continue to fall. The overall price of a LCD TV, will go down, till a few months after WK 2006, then the market will stagnate.
That's my conclusion ..
