I don't know what Acer thinks they are doing.
They already have laptops out with Blu-ray and HD DVD drives in them, so it's not like this announcement is anything new on either side.

GaS your right since even in the press release it talks about that they were already releasing HD-DVD drives on laptop. i guess this probably means nothing more than reaffirming their position with the HD-DUD promo group.
