Default Blu-ray owners - pledge with me against giving in to HD DVD...

Here's the deal. I understand that there are those of you who own both an HD DVD player and a Blu-ray player. Nothing you can do about that. From a statistical, reason-based standpoint, I can totally understand and encourage early HD DVD adopters to buy a Blu-ray player. The reasons are obvious (studio support, larger and more diversified competitive manufacturer base, superior technical specs and exciting new technology that's on the horizon, growing PS3 sales, continued disc sale dominance, etc.) It is therefore reasonable to convert from HD DVD to Blu. ON THE CONTRARY...it is absolutely inexcusable to buy an HD-DVD player if you are solely a Blu-ray player owner. By doing so, you are only hurting all of us...you are hurting the market and in a transcendental round-about way, yourself. Because you are willfully contributing to the schizophrenia that has arrested the HD home entertainment market. By giving money to a format that is competing against your own, you are perpetuating a war that doesn't need to exist. Increasing the number of casualties that will have been in vain. You, in essence, are pulling a Paramount. I say if you believe in Blu, stick with it 'til the end. If HD DVD wins, I'm all for it....but I will not be the one to push it over the edge as I have already put my money on Blu. My commitment stands. If HD DVD wins, it will be by its own merits in grabbing the fencesitters. I will let the public at large decide that. (But I will do my best to persuade them to buy Blu) When I bought a PS3, I declared myself off the fence and in Blu's corner. When you bought a Blu-Ray player, you did the same. If we want a winner...if we truly support Blu-ray for what it is...if we believe in its technology and if its what we want to succeed DVD, then we have to persevere in absolute fidelity come hell or high water. Give me Blu or Give me death. Otherwise, what's the point?

Even though I am slightly tempted to buy an HD DVD player due to its cheap pricing and the exclusivity of two of my favorite movies (Children of Men and Transformers), I hereby pledge not to propagate a war that is keeping the HD market stagnant. I will stand by Blu no matter what. Will you?

A friend once told me its either ALL ass or NO ass. NEVER half-ass!

(This was instigated by a conversation I had with my coworkers tonight regarding the state of the format war and those who might be tempted to venture into HD DVD territory as a result of player price drops and purchase incentives re: amazon)
