xXx (2002) (15th Anniversary Edition) - Blu-ray Forum

Looks like Sony are putting out a new release of xXx next year, fpor the film's 15th Anniversary. No word on whether this is from a new 4K scan, etc..but one can hope so considering how poor the first release was. This is of course also being released due to the new movie coming out in January as well.

Knowing Sony I would say there's a good chance it's a 4k remaster. I've somehow never seen this movie but theoretically it should appeal to me.

They released Fright Night through labels, as I am sure you know. Panic Room is coming through labels as well, with them waiting for it to be remastered.

TT releases of Fright Night are OOP, so technically Sony could relase it themselves in a year or two. His request is legit.

Also I am not paying over $40 for a movie or hundreds when it is in limited supply. If I were one of the ppl who paid close to $100 for Christine I'd never forgive myself knowing you can now get it at Best Buy for $5 - $10.

Fright Night has cheap overseas editions though. In any event Sony can't release it themselves for a while yet, and even if they do I bet it would in their BD-R line since 8,000 copies were already sold. You're better off importing either way.

that's probably true...Eureka's upcoming release is the one to get.

Saw it way back in the day but don't remember liking it. But I have to see the new one for Deepika Padukone, so if this comes with movie cash, I'll bite. I don't think I ever saw the Ice Cube one.

I have a "digital copy" but I would love a nice Blu with HD audio. I hate importing but I may check it out.

Should have figured this would come, thanks to the new movie.

The existing Blu-Ray does need a new scan or remaster badly, so if it is better PQ I'll definitely get a copy.

Would be nice if they include the two cuts of the movie and all the extras. They'll probably have something new to tie in with the new movie. Would be nice to retire the other three editions I have of this movie (the Blu-Ray, the original DVD, the unrated 2-disc DVD set), but I got a feeling I'll wind up keeping them all for some reason or another.

Glad to see this getting a new release. I had a feeling the new movie would prompt a rerelease. I always wanted to pick up the current release, but never did do to lack of extras and less than stellar video. I really hope this new edition has a new remaster and all the DVD extras.

I'm guessing it'll probably be mastered in 4k, which should be a pretty solid upgrade over the old 2006 MPEG-2 transfer. Might have to get this is if it ends up cheap in the BB savestation.
