Default Danmark and Europe is Blu!

We all know this but are lacking some hard data for it. AxelMusic have two sites. Axelmusic.com (selling Blu-rays and HD-DVD:s from USA) and AxelMusic.dk (selling Blu-rays and HD-DVD:s from Denmark/Europe).

AxelMusic.com say that all Blu-rays are Region 1 discs and do not say that most of them are region free and do not label region free discs. This might scare some people from importing through Axelmusic.com.

This is the latest data from AxelMusic.com:

BLU-RAY HD-DVD
Weekly 54.1% 45.9%
Monthly 53.3% 46.7%
Yearly 50.6% 49.4%

Releases 425 374
* Based on AxelMusic sales

And here comes the graphs for AxelMusic.com. I have unfortunately missed some days but I hope the graphs do get an idea about the trend.

And now to the other site...

http://www.axelmusic.dk/

BLU-RAY HD-DVD
Ugentligt (Weekly) 90% 10%
Totalt 70% 30%

Titler 169 99
* Baseret på AxelMusic.dk salg

Denmark is Blu!

There are no more places...

As you say, AxelMusic have been a HD-DVD stronghold but it does not help then the number of Blu-ray players are so overwhelming great over HD-DVD players in Europe. Toshiba tries to say that we are not allowed to count the PS3:s as Blu-ray players but that does not help HD-DVD sales numbers....

I guess more and more people understand that most Blu-ray discs ARE region free and available for import. Infact, more region-free Blu-ray discs have been sold than region-free HD-DVD discs and I guess that the number of region-free titles soon will be greater also for Blu-ray.

Since axelmusic.dk is so overpriced they can not be used as a liable resource for danish sales numbers.
(should speak the other way i know! But due to the prices they have few sales = higher increase in %. Check it next week it could be the other way around)
Through my distributors i know Blu-ray is in favor, however it is more around 2:1 lead. A lot of danes are importing from the UK and US, so our sales aren't that high here at home.

The prices at Axelmusic.dk is not more expensive than other sites such as Amazon.co.uk. It's in fact cheaper on many titles. Discs released in Europe are unfortunately more expensive than discs released in US even if you need to pay shipment for them. Axelmusic.dk might not be a big piece on the HighDef market but AxelMusic is well known in Denmark.

The numbers have not changed dramatically on AxelMusic.dk so that the numbers point towards HD-DVD as you describe. You also have the Total that is more stable than the weekly numbers. My guess is that Blu-ray is leading in Scandinavia with about 3:1.

9:1 in weekly sales at AxelMusic.dk is very good numbers for Blu-ray.
