Also, it looks as if Disney may be getting ready to release Aladdin back in theaters next year in 3D (on 9/18), with plans for the Aladdin: Diamond Edition Blu-ray to include Blu-ray 3D on 10/6. This according to the Disney Wiki. We’ll see.
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/column...ts/112514_1245 It's all speculation at this point. |

Probably going to pre-empt quite a few peeps, but considering Disney's recent Non-Marvel releases have only got a 3D Digital Download release, it is highly doubtful that Aladdin would get a new 3D release. Not to mention how Disney stopped doing 3D conversions of their classics after The Little Mermaid.
Also, the source is a Wiki website, where anyone could edit what they like. |

If it was Wikipedia, it'd need an actual source or it gets deleted. Disney Wikia apparently has no such standards.
I don't think they're going to bother with many more 3d conversions for rereleases. Incredibles might still happen though. |

Hmmm...maybe Disney is starting to see the error of their ways?? Hope this bit of news is true....gives me hope we could see Frozen on 3D Blu this time next year as well. Got to keep the cash cow going and releasing a 3D blu version would help, imo. We shall see.

I know for a fact that Tarzan for example had sections that had aleast partially been converted and screened footage in 3D back when Real D was first courting theatre owners to add them to their chains. One example being Tarzans swinging through the trees sequence looked amazing and that was back in 05-06 |

This is complete, utter vaporware and fantasy FUD.
The OP links to a website that cites yet another website that can be edited by anyone. ![]() |

I wonder if the recent German production of Tarzan 3d played some part in putting the kibosh on it. The posters and advertising I saw bore a strong superficial similarity to the Disney version. I'd agree if he was going on some insider info here, but he cites wikia as his only source for this information. It's always possible(however unlikely) that that site was edited by someone in the know, but that's a pretty slim chance. |

Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King were converted in-house by Disney. The Little Mermaid was outsourced later to Legend 3D. You will notice in Mermaid, there is greater retention of its 2D animated style and less attempt to shape every object with volume than in Lion King or BatB.

To my knowledge Disney is trying to kill the authoring of U.S. Blu-ray 3D media releases, for greater business profit and absolute vault control of their latest in-house 3D film assets, but to my knowledge, this doesn't affect 3D streaming, except for what the boycotting enthusiast's endure to express the unfairness of physical media release neglect for Disney U.S.A. theatrical 3D productions.

While Aladdin is coming this October to release as a Diamond edition, the 3D of it is not. It's likely being released in theaters in 3D. Not for home-video retail purposes. Apologies on behalf of this OP for anyone who got their hopes of after seeing this..... As pointed out already, anyone can edit information into the source of this "news". People will start quoting Wikipedia as fact, soon enough then if this is considered source-worthy. Also OP: it's Aladdin. ![]() Last edited by TheGeneral; 01-08-2015 at 05:33 PM. |

If Aladdin gets a 3D release in theaters, even if it doesn't receive a 3D disc in North America, it would likely get a Disney 3D release in other territories and could be imported. I'm hoping it's correct that Aladdin will get the 3D treatment. It's my favorite Disney film and I'd be thrilled to have it in 3D.
