Default 2010: Your AUDIO Investment!

It's time again for a new yearly poll on the AUDIO investment you have made in your HT setups.

The parameters for voting are simple and they are as follows:

1. Include your A/V Receiver - Power Amp - PrePro - Integrated Amp
2. Include your Speakers - 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1, etc.
3. Include your source - CD playback, Vinyl Playback, Tape Playback.
4. Include your Cabling (Power/Speaker/Interconnects)
5. Include your Acoustic Room Treatments
6. Include any/all TWEAKS you have introduced to attain higher fidelity

***IMPORTANT***

Do not include any VIDEO sources!

I have expanded the categories for voting in the poll, which I think will better represent the investments we have each made. I have also opened up the poll to see how everyone voted.

Before you vote, please take into consideration the upgrades (if any) you have planned. I suggest waiting until such time as those upgrades are realized. Feel free however to participate in the thread with comments and discussion.

Have fun, enjoy, keep it civil and make some new friends while you're at it!

John

Hi Rich,

I knew you would be in the last category this year! Congrats! And keep updating us in your thread on the new HT/2Ch setup!

I've got four different rigs in my home - main theater, family room regular watching, game room, and home office. Per guidelines, I'm not including idle gear or upgrades.

Hi Blu-Dog!

Four rigs, eh? Cool! As long as your vote consists of audio only related gear, go crazy and include them all!

If you do get some upgrades this year after you vote, you can always vote in the 2011 thread that is sure to follow this one!

These are all MSRP-I haven't actually paid MSRP on all items but it's easier to find the prices this way since I don't remember it all. I'm also including the two items that will be purchased this next week, an Integra DHC 40.1 and the Oppo BDP 83.

Speakers:
Song Towers-2,000 (with shipping)
Song Center-800
Paradigm Monitor 7s v6-758
Klipsch LCR RF series (no longer used) - 990
Sources:
Sony PS3 40gb-400
Oppo BDP 83-500
NAD M5-1,800
Logitech Squeezebox Classic-300
Audio Technica TT-180
Wadia iTransport 170-380 (no longer used)
Receivers/PrePro/PreAmp
Marantz SR5002-750 (no longer used)
Integra DHC 40.1-1,200
Yamaha RX-V 563-400 (no longer used)
Parasound Halo P3-850
Amps:
Parasound HCA 1000a-1,000 (no longer used)
Audio Refinement Multi 2-1,200
Rotel RMB 1075-1,200
Subwoofer:
Definitive Technology Supercube I-1,200
Power:
APC H-15-300
Cables:
Tara Labs Vector 1 1m and 1.5m pair-650
Audioquest Speaker Cables-300
Audioquest Diamond Back 2m xlr-220
BJC ICs-80
Shunyata Venom Power Cables-300
PS Audio Power Cable-100
Monoprice HDMI Cables-10

Grand Total: $17,868

I don't think I've paid anywhere near that, or I hope to god I haven't! I'm guessing the actual total is probably around 12-14k with discounts and buying used. The total of stuff currently in my system is $14,048 MSRP. And with unforeseen upgrades (2nd or new subs) throughout the year I'll vote in the 15k+ range.

PS-Nice thread again John

Hi Alex,

I love the way you listed everything in your setup. You've got ome beautiful gear my friend!

It's difficult to remember what we all paid for components and the like, so adding everything up based on MSRP is fine with me. It's most likely easier to come up with a figure in that process!

Thanks for voting!

Hi Brent!

Thanks for voting buddy! OOPS...you didn't vote...my bad! It's amazing how quickly it all adds up, eh? I'm not voting yet as I have some upgrades planned, and I want to be sure they are written in stone before I cast my vote.

I downsized last year, but also added, so I have to figure it all out. I suspect that dollar-wise there has still been a slight increase however.

I did not vote Because of the future upgrades ! I will eventually though . The amount is what I have spent . it does not include the 2 Receivers I went through in the past 2 years or the amp I sold to Jason .

Hello John and happy new year to all,

I guess I'll have to wait to vote until I get more pieces in the months to come.

At this rate, Sean and Brent should not vote as they are the onesthat go through the most gear in a such a span of time

Morning Rhett!

I would think with those new Sapphires that you'll be jumping several categories this year!

I Don't think so

The receivers are the first had no Pre-outs Before I got into the audio part of this ! The 2nd Rec. & amp just wanted to upgrade .

Otherwise everything else is all original except 1 sub. Driver

Hi Lou!

Nice investment there buddy! And you know I love your setup! I'm waiting as well to cast my vote, and I suspect the second half of the year will see a rise in poll votes.

I love doing this thread every year, and I feel really good that it's something people look forward to. My small contribution to the overall effectiveness of the site!

Gee John,

I certainly hope that there will be an increase from only 4 votes.

I'm going to hold off on voting for a while, because I know myself enough to know that the upgrade bug will get me sometime this year.

Tallying what I have already though, including cabling, stands and such, I'm around $9500. But I know that price will go up.

Sweet! I'm not nearly in the league that you guys are in terms of investment, but this year should see a marked upgrade.
