there's no plan as of now for the show on blu, but we Buffites are hoping, soon. If your loving Buffy, you should check out Angel the spin off show of Buffy. Also, check out Joss Whedon's (the creator of Buffy) Firefly which you can get on Blu. Also, Joss's Dollhouse Season 1 is coming out in late July. Charmed is also pretty good, if you like the supernatural element of Buffy, but it is a tad bit soap opery. And welcome to the Buffyverse, good to have you, and please don't eat at the Doublemeat Palace.

On the tv show, no not really, but Joss created a comic book called Angel: After the Fall that is continuing to this day the story, so the story of Angel continues, as does the story of Buffy. They both have a concise conclusion to the series that could be consider series finality, but also leave unanswered questions, etc. As for when to start Angel, finish Buffy Seasons 2 and 3, then begin Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 1 at the same time, they happen at almost the same time.

My wife is the fan, not me, but I believe they actually happen at the same time, featuring cross-over things like calling on the phone or going from one place (Los Angeles) to the other (Sunnydale) etc. If you watch episode 1 of Buffy then 1 of Angel, then 2 of Buffy 2 of Angel and repeat you'll catch all that kind neat stuff that Joss Whedon did.

And I like Firefly, but I rEALLY like Dollhouse!

yeah, for most of the episodes it is like that, there are a few that aren't quite consecutive, but yeah for the most part, close to it. I believe that season four actually begins a few weeks prior to the beginning of Angel season one, but it soon rights itself, and episodes like "Pangs" and "I Will Remember You" should actually be reversed in order of watching. "I Will Remember..." happened first, but aired second and "Pangs" aired first but takes place after the events in "I Will Remember...". Joss and team did a dang good job keeping the show's cross over stuff very consistent for the most part.

P.S. I LOVE THE SHOW TOO!!! Just wait until you get to Season 6! I laughed. I cried. I fell in love. I have never found myself so emotionally invested in entertainment as I was with Season 6 of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.

The first two seasons of the show were shot on 16mm, so don't expect to be blown away by the picture quality. Also, the show was edited in the video domain, and many of the special effects were rendered at only standard definition on the early seasons. Someone would have to re-do much of it (like Star Trek) to make it blu-ray worthy.

Finish seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy and then check here for the chronology of Buffy and Angel episodes when both shows were running.

Boy, I really wish they would release all the seasons in bluray… Some episodes look quite bad on dvd, they could use a restoration/remaster. Wouldn't mind if they would leave the special effects in SD if they can't afford to fix them… Isn't there some type of online petition?

It's not just the special effects. The entire post-production was done on video, They would need to redo the editing and color-timing. I think whether other shows are considered to be worth the money to convert them will depend a lot on how Friends and Star Trek: The Next Generation sell.

Wow! I posted this over 2 years ago and I still feel as strongly now as I did then about season 6. My girlfriend and I just watched the entire series and I couldn't believe that I forgot how powerful season 6 is.

Totally agree about Buffy, would love the same for Charmed. Although as someone said above, they would probably have to redo elements and I can't imagine the studio would ever pay for that to happen? Buffy has a better chance of that happening.

Hopefully if they ever do put it on BD, they don't half ass it. Meaning, I know on DVDs, they have to squish the quality down to fit 4 episodes on an 8 gig DVD.
So that means they could prob just stick the "unsquished" versions of the episodes on bluray, but that would be totally half assed in my opinion.

What would be great about Buffy and Charmed on BD is LESS discs and better quality.

I can honestly say that I would pay any amount of money for the complete series of Buffy on blu-ray.

...Okay, probably not anything over $600. But I'd gladly pay $599.99!

The show really deserves to be re-mastered. I bought the VOD versions to get seasons 4-7 in widescreen but the bit rat was low and microblocking high, that I wanted to cry. I still want it to be known that I will pay more for this show for Blu-ray. Buffy will always be my favorite show and I will never stop watching the entire season @ least once a year.

I have faith they edited onto film. I saw Buffy and Angel episodes on an HD australian channel, episodes from 2001 and they were 1:85:1 ratio 16:9. Didn't appear cropped! Characters standing had lots of space on either side.

Just like quality of Seinfeld and Friends I've seen on aussie TV.

I'm really hoping Star Trek: The Next Generation performs well on Blu-ray and Fox takes notice and spends the money on Buffy. And please give us a Play All this time!!!

Didn't want to make a new thread to ask; what's the lowest anyone's seen the complete series for? It's currently $107 on Amazon

Well after I (probably) dropped $40+ on each season of this, I doubt I'd go for this on BD, unless they did some kind of trade-in program where you could get each season for about $10.
