First class hokum deserving of a thread; just seen the Graham Humphreys artwork for 88 Films and it's a step up of what we have seen to date.

Loved this movie since I was a kid, yes, it’s somewhat ridiculous but I still love it nonetheless!

Ridiculous, oppressive, and downright hilarious. Probably the only action film in history that doesn't have the main character indulge in action and knit.

Not much information on the release other then a poster on the 88 Films thread confirmed that 88 had stated there would be 4 interviews as extras.

Hoping for a commentary like the US release, not many of the cast or production crew still around, however, maybe they have got an interview with David Wood (Herring), Lea Brodie (Sanna) or John Richardson (Special Effects)?

North sea hijack was the film I took my first girlfriend to on our first date. If I remember it was a lot more fun than she was.

All I want to know is whether or not it will be the same re-heated trainwreck of a master that Kino used.

I fear it will be the same transfer, I agree with blu-ray.com"s reviewer of the US release that the video is ropey, that's about the only thing I agree on with the reviewer.

Svet changed his mind for the re-release. Same master/same film though, so not sure why......

This time he didn't need a sick bag and smelling salts to get to the end!

Saw this film for the first time today and had a ridiculously fun time with it.

I purchased the Kino edition and although I must admit the transfer isn't too great (Universal's fault, not Kino's), I really enjoyed the film and was hoping that the upcoming UK edition would be from a new transfer. Looks like it isn't from what I've read above. Pity since I believe this is the last we'll see of a physical copy for this one.

Great to see a UK release. I imported the Australian Madman release into the US a while back, and the PQ is just fine to my eyes (believe it is the same transfer as the KL and this 88).

Nice extras - but maybe they should do a special boxed set with needlepoint kits of the poster.

Would have been nice if they had been able to port over the Kino commentary and the first 3000 should have come with a red and white striped bobble hat.

Or, since the footage they cut to get the rating down from an AA to an A (only to end up being raised to a 15 on video anyway) is presumably lost, a special Where's Wally - sorry, Where's Rufus Excalibur ffolkes? book. And a large tin of KiteKat or Whiskas, with the super deluxe version including a vermilion wetsuit.

Or an adorable fluffy kitten plus an abridged version of Ffolkes's big book of chat up lines.

From the IMDb:

"The original UK cinema version had the sight of one of the hijackers unbuttoning the blouse of a female captive removed for an 'A' rating (the same as today's 'PG' rating). All subsequent video and DVD releases have been uncut and rated '15'."
