Default Was Taken 3 cut for PG-13 theatrical rating?

Can anyone confirm this either way?

The BBFC advised them that it would be rated 15 if submitted, so it was edited to get the lower 12A rating. It's not uncommon for US film distributors to show films to the BBFC for advice before making the theatrical versions for US releases. It seems to be a more collaborative process than dealing with the MPAA.

It's a Luc Besson produced flick, it will have been edited down for a PG-13 for a Unrated Home Release, just like the other two Taken films.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Waiting until video release.

Besson is not going to pull any fast ones on me.

I will be watching this in theaters soon. Then I'll buy the Taken Trilogy bluray boxset if and when it comes out. Hopefully, I'll notice the added scenes on the Taken 3 bluray. I wish blurays would use deleted scene markers, like on the Alien Anthology set. Even the AVP 2-disc set uses them.

Isn't releasing a PG-13 Taken movie sort of like selling fried chicken without the skin?

They clearly redubbed lines, like replacing F*** with screw.

...of course they also had the LAPD misspelling their own name as Los Angeles Police Departement

??? The first two were PG-13.

Mind you the first one had a superior international cut that would have gotten an R rating.

Like the person above me said, all of them have been PG-13 in the theaters.

I've only seen both cuts of the first movie (I never saw the theatrical cut of Taken 2), and the only real change was the torture scene. I doubt Taken 3's two cuts will be drastically different either (some language obviously).

I stand corrected. I could have sworn that the first film (the only one that I've seen) was rated R, but I was wrong about that.
