Friday the 13th Part 2 in development?

This sucks big time. I really enjoyed Friday the 13th 2009 and was really looking forward to part 2 and it taking place during winter. Can't understand why though it made a shit load of money at the BO and Blu-ray/DVD sales so I see no reason to cancel the sequel.

While hangin' on ol' Twitter, BC discovered @Mayroth_Tucker3's tweet asking Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller, "Hows the F13 sequel coming along?" to which Fuller replied, "it is dead- not happening." Bummer news after hearing that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. were aiming to have the film in theaters for August 13, 2010. We checked in with Fuller who added, "Right now there is no movement on Friday 13th: Part 2." The sequel to the 2009 Friday the 13th remake penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift was going to be shot in 3-D and feature the return of Derek Mears as the new Jason Voorhees. Considering the redo made a whopping $40m in its opening weekend, and with Elm Street looking to open huge next Friday, this comes as a major shocker.

Not much info at all, still hoping another studio buys out the rights and makes it anyway.

I have trouble believing the movie is completely dead, it was too profitable. I would be surprised if it doesn't get revived later this year. These movies are so cheap to make and usually bring in at least 3 times their budget and do well on home video, it has to happen at some point.

I'm also very surprised. In this day and age where it seems like 1/2 the product coming out is a remake or a sequel that this sequel of a remake will not happen. It truly must be a sign that the end is near...

I'm looking at this as more of a delay then termination. Friday the 13th will never die, just gets postponed. Too many reasons for New Line/Warners not go to forth with this. Platinum Dunes will no longer be involved because I believe I read somewhere that they are now set up at Paramount (no link). Friday the 13th will continue at New Line, I doubt they would sell the rights, but w/o PD.

I'll probably get shot for saying this, but I thought it was the best remake of all the Platinum Dunes films and BETTER than the original. It's more fast-paced, grittier, more naked (haha), and thought it was overall badass.

I wanted Jason in the winter. Tbh though, I had a Jason in the winter idea on the page years ago. Oh well. I had some sick ideas.

maybe not profitable enough? it could be a number of thing but it wont be dead forever, we just got to keep an eye out for the next friday the 13th in the coming years and watch out for the rumour to start coming

Jason films are very cheap to make, it doesn't take much to make a slasher movie!

It is a really good remake but I wouldnt say its Platinum Dunes best as I believe the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is their best remake. I havnt looked at a list of all their remakes but off the top of my head that one sticks out. I am the biggest Friday the 13th fan to so me sayin that TCM is better means sumthin. Got Em!!
