Browsing through the forums here, I've noticed many posts from people who REFUSE to go region free and will ONLY buy releases that are native to their own region. No matter how great the release is.
To these people, if blurays are released overseas, they may as well not even exist. Even if the overseas release is the ONLY place where a particular title they want has been released? Nope, they are not interested. Even if an overseas release is drastically superior in quality or special feature content by comparison to their bare bones native release? Nope, too bad, they will only settle for what is locally available. Region free players are affordable to purchase and with online retailers, it is relatively easy to buy an wealth of fantastic bluray titles from around the world and have them shipped pretty much anywhere within a couple of weeks. Still, why is it that many people who consider themselves movie collectors, still refuse to go region free??? It is honestly as bad as people refusing to upgrade from DVD to BLU! |
