Default Blinking White Pixel with PS3 Playing DVD's?!?!

Anyone ever experienced this issue?

Recently I noticed a "blinking white pixel" in one spot on our KDL-40XBR4 HDTV when the PS3 is playing DVDs. It does not happen with Blu-ray discs, however!

Is that the TV or PS3? Seems like it is the PS3 as this only happens when DVD's are played!

Weird huh?

My PS3 (60GB from launch) has been throwing some flashing pixels out too. It's worst when I'm watching a video straight from the HDD, but now it's doing with DVD's as well. It's still fine with Blu Ray movies, but then I'm getting all kinds of weird glitches with games.

I have a Slim model and havn't noticed anything like that. I have been streaming form netflix and watching some DVD's form them and I havn't noticed any "white" spots at all. Don't knwo what to tell you.

Well,

Seems to be a PS3 issue when playing DVDs (i.e. not the HDTV). Not sure what kind of fix it would entail.

Default The problem

Sorry to tell you that the problem is kinda' serious and not easily fixed (in fact it may not be). I had the problem as well, and after much research I found the problem is playing too many DVD's. Apparently playing a DVD on Blu-ray causes the lens to change shap (warp) over time. After a time it causes the problem, leaving a DVD paused (like over night or longer) is a major culprit.

You can change the lens, but as you have a launch model (and they're discontinued) your going to be hard pressed to get Sony to do it. Even if you could get them to it would likely be cheaper to buy a new one. Again, sorry.
