Get it.

$2500 MSRP for the 50 incher, for example, is incredible.

Pick the size you want, shop smart, and don't hesitate. I don't think you can do much better than these price/value/performance, quite frankly.

Unless you want to go into front projection, but that's a whole different animal altogether.

I've seen front projectors in rooms under 10' x 10' - but I don't know your setup so won't hijack...

I recommended to my brother one of the new 60" SXRDs and he says he loves it. He had his heart set on a 50" plasma until I dragged him through several stores and pointed out the distinct advantages that rear projection has that were clearly visible in all the store setups. SXRD just goes a step further with overall image quality, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it is much different than the best DLP models out there.

You can shop online to get some really good pricing. I know he bought from www.bestbuyplasma.com - which was NOT what I specifically recommended to him, but he just got from them anyway and it showed up without to much hassle.

Last year it was picked as product of the year by S&V Magazine. Or was it Home Theater magazine? Can't remember. Either way - good stuff!

The SXRD televisions really are amazing.
The 50" 1080p rear projection is only $2,399 direct from Sony, so no doubt you'll find it elsewhere as well and be able to knock that down by 10%
(It's only $1,899 at the bestbuyplasma link provided above - Zoinks!)

The 60" is the one I want.

yeah I like the projection lcd's over plasma due to the fact of size, price,no burn in, and the fact that on projection lcd/dlp you can just replace the bulb instead of the whole freekin tv. I'll probably go w/ the 60 inch too I have a 55 inch grand wega 1080i right now w/the tv speakers on the side. I don't care about the tv speakers as I have my sound coming from my surround sound system. I got it from hhgregg like 2years ago. can't seem to find it. It looks like this w/the speakers on the side but I know it's not a sxrd cuz it is 1080i and has only 1 hdmi

Sony SXRD: buy it!

I have the KD-SR60XBR1. Some of the finest TV ever on that thing. Coupled with the Sony DVP-NS90V upconverting DVD player the temptation to hold off on Blu-ray until the PS3 is bearable.

The new model also comes in a 55", the Sony KDS55A2000.

Absolutely! I just got the KDS-R60XBR2 about two weeks ago and it's incredible. You will not be disappointed. Sony just dropped the price by $500, but I'm sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

I'll be buying the 55 inch sxrd as soon as I can sell my present set. Every review I've read on the set was top notch. Check Sound and Vision for thier review. Perfect match for my Sony Blu Ray player if it ever shows up.

If you want your PS3 to show maximum quality on your TV, then wait for a newer model.

Newer SXRDs might have the HDMI 1.3 thing so if you want to go full blast on your PS3 experience (if you have one), I recommend that you wait a little while longer for newer TVs to come out.

?

The newer SXRDs won't be out until September 2007 at the earliest. Maybe August.

HDMI 1.3 is irrelevant as far as HDTV or Blu-ray disc goes since the color bandwidth is limited to 8-10 bit. The ability to pass thru advanced audio codecs would also be useless to a TV.

Buy the SXRDs ***now***.

Thumbs up SXRD is highly recommended!

I got mine about one month ago to enjoy with my Blu-ray player.

It is the best display I've ever had.
  • 1080p
  • HDMI
  • no burn-in
  • no convergence issues
  • no rainbow effect
  • 10,000:1 contrast ratio

And since the current year models have been out for a while there are some very competetive prices out there this time of year.

Sears has the 60" SXRD (A2000) for $1999.99

Circuit City did have them for $1999.99 on the web yesterday and I ordered. Should be here tomorrow

Does anybody know if CC will negotiate warranty prices? Or what is the best thing to do with Extended Warranty's?

They sure will. Go in there with documentation proving the price at the other store and they should match or exceed that price.

Extended Warranties? Use your instincts. I usually go for them on big ticket items if I see them reasonably priced like $40 for three years or something like that.

Well the reason I went with CC over sears was the lower listed extended warranty price to begin with. So I really don't have proof of a lower priced warranty.

How much off EW's have people been able to get off? I know it only cost a store like 10% from past experience.

If you're coming close to 10 percent of the item's price on an EW, you're paying too much for it.

That's kind of my general rule of thumb.

Ok, that makes sense. I think it's $299 for 2 years or $549 for 4 years. I'm going to go to the local store and try to negotiate. I am worried about bulb life a little but then again I hear they aren't that expensive ($200-$300).

Hi, I have a 46" X2000(XBR2 I think in the US), and I was wondering how this LCD compares to the SXRD range?
