Default Did the buy-a-thon kill Amazon?

Like the title says... Did the buy-a-thon kill Amazon?

I would love to think that we have the power to slow down something that huge... But maybe it's just me wanting my movies.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because my last order was processed and the shipping information was sent within a few hours.

With this latest one it's been 24 hours and the shipping information hasn't even been sent yet. It just says prepairing to ship...WTF?

Anyone else having this delay?

Yes. I ordered Planet Earth and it's still not delivered. My non-BLU stuff ordered at the same time was shipped.

What, did they keep just 3 copies on hand?

Beats me, but I got my discs at Best Buy, and only got pre-orders on Amazon...
Would be crazy if it has that kind of effect on the store.

I have seven blu's which haven't been delivered. None of them were new, so any delay should not be because of the distributor.

The people at Amazon are probably in a panic right now. They're all like "what the hell!!!"
Next we'll see an official announcement that Amazon.com will no longer sell HD-DVD because Blu-Ray is selling so well.

My copy of "Planet Earth" seized on disc one when the "2 | Entertain" logo started to play. My exchanged copy is working fine. Check them all when you get it and make sure you watch them all before the 30 day return is up.

I already watched disc 1, and watched all of disc 2 last night. INCREDIBLE. We see lots of incredible CGI stuff in movies all the time, but when you see this, and know that it is real, it becomes that much more astounding. Especially on blu-ray.

If your order contains Troy, that would possibly account for the delay. I got an email today from Amazon stating that my order will be delayed by about a week. My other stuff for this week shipped already, but I had specified that it be shipped as the titles become available. If shipping as cheaply as possible then it might delay everything until they have Troy in stock. Other Warner titles like Smallville might also cause this but I'm not sure as Troy was the only Warner title in my order.

I am having the same issue with them and when I called them they really had no answer, but further frustrated me in actuality.

Here is the email they just sent me a few minutes ago....

Greetings from Amazon.com. I am very sorry about the delay in shipping your order. Unexpected changes in supply added time to the assembly of your shipment. We are processing your order now, and your package should leave our fulfillment center soon. We still expect your shipment to be delivered by the date listed in Your Account: 9/26/07 Once it has been shipped, we will send you an e-mail message confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

I don't trust amazon ship times, one time it said that an ordered had not been shipped yet, but I got it in the mail that day. Another time it took 3 weeks for them to ship a PC games that was in stock, so they said.

Amazon pre-orders always go like clockwork for me. My stuff ships on the Monday before release date. I always specify Standard Shipping (free shipping takes forever to get up to Alaska) and my stuff is waiting for me when I get home on Friday. I've been doing this almost every week since probably February and it's always the same.

The Warner title delays have to be the problem. My copy of A Few Good Men went out Monday as usual.

My "shipped" message came promptly as always.

I'm sure the brass at Amazon are just pleased as hell to help us with our buy-a-thon. The guys in the shipping dept. maybe a little less so.
