I don't think we should limit anything like that.
Yes go out and buy Warner. In fact, I would focus on Warner this Holiday shopping season. But a buy-a-thon just for it seems a little too much.... |

I think such a buy-a-thon is too limiting... I know that I for one am not going to buy any movies that I don't like/want just to support blu-ray.

I am ordering Training Day today, have Troy and Smallville coming and of course The Oceans Set, The Harry Potter set and some other titles I can't think of right now. I am spending tons on them this holiday season because they have plenty of films that I simply want to own.

I am going to help support Blu-Ray and WB by purchasing 20 of their movies. I will be purchasing the Best of Blu-Ray; Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3, Action, and Family. I can get all 5 set for $225, which is like $11.25 per film.

I don't mean to sound rude....well i guess i do....i'll buy what the f**k i want thank you.
I'm sick of people saying buy this! Buy that! Jesus give it up just buy whatever you want. Its called a choice and if studios want support then they better have something worth buying. End. |

I do not think that any buy-a-thon will change Warner's position at all. Even if they sell 1 million BDs for one HD-DVD it wouldn't change their mind at all. They are going HD-DVD exclusive anyway, I have written them off already. Warner is in the same category of streetwalker as Paramount only a bit more expensive. Escort service girl type. Still no problem for M$. They can also aford high-class prostitutes, not only the 50 $ Paramount kind. I will buy, however, Warner titles I would have bought anyway, regardless of the studio, like Blade Runner which I have on pre-order.

I definitely agree that is important that we support Warner since they could potentially help end the format war if they go BD exclusive. But at the same time I am not going to go out of my way to purchase movies that I might have otherwise not have bought.
While Troy is tempting, I only ever watch my dvd version of it once the day I bought it and haven't ever watched it since. Probably going to steer away from the BD version. At this tiem The Shining is probably the only offically announced title with a street date that I will for sure buy. When Warner decides ro release Heat, Shawshank Redemtion, and Batman Begins I will be all over those. I am REALLY trying not just to make my BD collection a collection of movies, but more of a collection of movies I will watch many more times. My standard dvd collection got a bit too muddled up with crap I never watched more than once. Not a great way to spend money. |

I agree. I will not buy any Warner movies I wouldn't have bought if it were not for the format war. I tend to support the loyal studios. However, I doubt that even if Warner chose to go BD exclusive it would end the format war. M$ can keep HD-DVD afloat even without Warner. There is no limit whatsoever to their financial resources. Even if they would lose all studios (including Paramount and Universal) they still can purchase any studio they want at any point in time they choose.

The only Warner titles I want are Harry Potter, and I don't want to waste $30 on a movie I will only watch once and might not even care about. But I will do my part by purchasing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Blu-Ray and MAYBE the Entire Boxset. So there, I am giving Warner $150.

Not to knock on anyone, but I buy a BD I want to see over and over regardless of the studio. I just don't like the fact that we get a crappy transfer due to hd dud's format. I'd get more Warner titles if it wasn't for the VC-1 encode and standard DD audio.

You will not get any better from Warner as they use their HD-DVDs as master and simply transfer them to BD (reducing the AQ most of the time).
