From what I've researched Blu-ray is encoded in YCbCr 4 2 2, so I would assume that's best.
A number of TV's only allow YCbCr 4 4 4 and RGB 4 4 4. In PS3 set-up some recommend Auto which chooses YCbCr for Blu-ray and RGB for games, but what use is this if my TV's HDMI connections have seperate options for RGB and YCbCr? Should I just use YCbCr for everything? |

Whether 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 over HDMI will look better, it depends on how the player does the conversion from 4:2:0, and how the TV does the conversion from 4:2:2 to 4:4:4. Some players (not Sigma-based) botch up 4:2:2 by doing 4:2:0 -> 4:4:4 -> 4:2:2. |
