Default Two quick questions

1. Someone told me that Sony is going to outsource Cell production to Toshiba in the future, and that part of the rumor ties into how Tosh. backs HD-DVD, thus sabotaging Sony.

2. That same someone told me that the porn industry is now backing HD-DVD (VHS vs Beta all over again).

I asked them for sources but they "could not remember" and I could not find anything on it my self, can someone clarify these for me? This person was a HD-DVD and 360 "supporter" and I think he was full of it.

The porn industry is minor at best. Back in the early 80's porn videos had to be owned in the home. Now, however, the internet has made the porn home video a minor player. The porn industry is a rumored $1b a year industry. That does not mean $1b video sales a year. That means the ENTIRE industry makes $1b. The internet as killed the porn advantage.

Toshiba co-developed the Cell... they also intend on using it in their consumer products such as HiDef displays and future HD-DVD players. to sabotage the Cell is to commit sappuku... remember that one company can have many facets... each department or subsidary works on their own projects... there's more to Toshiba than just HD-DVD... their semiconductors do serious business and have nothing to do with their HiDef division...

Porn is NOT an issue in this format war... razor burns anyone?

Did that someone also tell you that S.T.I. is the group that co-developed the cell? S = Sony, T = Toshiba, I = IBM. He should also have mentioned that Cell does not = Blu-ray. Toshiba is one of the top 5 manufacturers of semi-conductors in the world and already vested in Cell.

Have you priced porn on BD or HD-DVD? You could probably get a real piece of tail for the same price.

The ENTIRE porn industry? No. Porn studios are releasing titles on both formats. And SS316SRV is right. There's tons of free porn on the internet, porn dvd's are cheaper than they've ever been, and porn-on-demand is rapidly growing...high-def porn is pretty far down list in term of sales.

Is it even on the list? I am not an expert on the HD DVD catalogue, but are there even any porn titles?

Actually at the moment there are more porno movies on HD DVD than Blu-Ray. But porn valley has been slow to release on both formats, so it's all relative.
