So I rented NHL08 this past Wed...

and I have to say I give it a 3. The graphics are of but over done, all the players look like they have halos around them. The frame rate is below par and it seems they put attention into all the custom pieces (helmet, skates, etc) then perfecting the game. I was at a face-off a few times and my skaters leg was twitching. But by far the worst part was the damn controls. The right thumb stick is supposed to control the stick on offense but you don't get nearly enough time to use it before your looking at the sky. On defense it "should" control your checking, yeah...not on mine. I pushed the stick toward the skater to check and he watched him go by, I think he waved too. AI is horrid too, their defense will hit you, slam you and shut them down. Your defense will put up some pressure then kinda wonder off to find their lost kitty. Before you know it there are 3 guys in front of the net taking pot shots at your goalie. I look all over the place and could not find a sprint or speed burst button so if you get one your guys selected it take a long time to get him to go anywhere. I took it back last night to BB and they let me exchange it for the 2K8. Played like 2hrs last night, so far so good. The controls are different from the 2K7 so it takes a little getting used to. Ill try and write a review on Monday. But for right now I recommend 2K8 over NHL 08.
