Default MGS4 is in 1080p

Quote:
We also couldn't confirm what resolution MGO was running at, whereas MGS4 was definitely doing its thing in full 1080p.

Right from Gamespot.

They mentioned the framerate in MGO was better than the MGS4 demo... I'm anxious to hear what the final word on framerate will be. If this is LOCKED 30fps or able to go up to 60fps then WOW I am a happy man.

Most of the game will be pre-rendered anyway. If the previous MG's are anything to go by 1080p will be achieved by short burst levels. Also, unless you have a projector I doubt you'd notice the difference.

The thing with FPS is that not everything requires a high one to look and play good. Stop buying into the numbers game guys. Look at MSFSX that games punishes computers and ussually run a really low FPS yet it looks great and it does not play bad at all.

Pre-rendered? How would you go about explaining in MGS3 everything that you were wearing in the game(camo, facepaint) would be accurate when the cutscenes take place? MGS is not pre-rendered. If that isn't enough proof go look at the TGS(or E3?) 05 trailer. One of the first things that comes on the screen is FPS (Forget Pre-rendered Stuff).

Not sure what you're suggesting here. MGS cutscenes or Polygon Demos as Koji-Pro like to call them are rendered in realtime and always have been. If they weren't you wouldn't see changes you've made to Snake's appearance reflected in the video. Gameplay sequences obviously can't be pre-rendered, just the assets in them.

Unless you're sitting too far away from a 1080-capable display I don't see why the extra third of resolution wouldn't be noticeable either.

edit: looks like I was a little late.

haha great minds think alike :-P.

I'm just surprised there was no official confirmation on this. It IS from Gamespot, so I wouldn't doubt their journalists... but i'm still just worried it may not be true.

oh but when gamestop says that lair is a piece of shit game and no one believes it until they play it then yes i dont believe it's true. lol. come on. they were right about lair sucking balls and everyone disagreed . now the cat is out of the bag, yes it does suck and no i haven't played; i wont waste my time with that. If they said the game will run in 1080p i think we should be a little more forgiving and believe them this time. hey at least its not lair

That will be QUITE the achievement, and a technical milestone for this generation. The few videos I have seen, I would agree it does look to be 60fps.

Here's to hoping the 1080p statement is true, and it holds up at 60fps.

were talking about kojima here. he would rather eat shit out of a toilet than make mgs4 look and play like shit; thats if he actually did want to eat shit out of a toilet. other than that i have no doubt that this will game will easily sell atleast 3 million ps3's on the day of the games launch. this will be in the top 3 of sony's lineup to be a heavy hitter guaranteed of selling systems like crack. and we might get it by christmas . YAY.

We won't get it by X-mas, as several video's that I've seen claim that it is going to be released in early '08. Click here. Best buy says in March.

I'm in no rush to get it. The sooner it comes out, the sooner the MGS series is over .

I want them to take their time and produce the best game possible.

From what understand MGS4 is supose to use and showcase all the ps3 abilty's they have been saying this even before the PS3 lauched so if this is true I would say that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the came to beat for some time to come

I would love to see MGS4 in native 1080p resolution running at 60fps... Playing Lair in 1080p is just simply beautiful!

Lair in 1080p was beautiful.. but it ran horribly most of the time. If a game can hold a solid 60 fps at 1080p and have as much stuff going on like it looks like there will be-- that will be very impressive. I think it can be done if the time is invested.

Sounds great, if only I had a 1080P TV. Eventually I will get one.
