Don't know if it's been posted yet, but damn that tv looks good! Even my wife wants on lol. I wonder how long it will take before this is affordable, and then maybe we will get the unaltered OT for Star Wars ![]() |

Sure 4k or what ever is badazz, but impractical for many years. They are saying 2020. By the time that sharp hits the street, I'd take a 21g flawless 4K+ Pioneer Super King Kuro in a size from 100"-150".
![]() ![]() Those peoples comments were classic! They thing standard HD broadcast is 1080p....and that's a big fat NO. Sure some on demand type pay to watch (direct tv I think) move stuff is claimed to be 1080p but it's compressed to hell. 720p/1080i Is what your gunna get 99% of the time from 99% of the HDTV sources out there & it's compressed to hell also. Plus we would need so material to even see this super high Res, which is next to nothing right now. Sure by the time you can by a display like that they will. It's kind of like 3D, at first there was not much now there is quite a bit. Another thing is we would need a new physical format which would blow. Even by 2020 the vast majority won't have that kind of bandwidth/speed needed to handle the HUGE amount of data that would need to come through. One poster said it's only a 60Hz TV. I did not get that deep into it to find out, that would be very strange though! There are a bunch of other funny opinionated facts, but that's the 'Inter-webs' for you. ![]() |

Its kinda hard to judge the picture quality from a video or picture. I'd have to go see it for myself. Just because they're displaying the next generation model, it doesn't mean its gonna hit the sales floors in the near future. They're just trying to get people excited so rich folks will buy their stuff.

Sharp owns part of Pioneer and I wonder if Sharp and Pioneer collaborated or Sharp took some of Pioneer's technology for that?
Make sure you post that link on the LCD/LED section too since the Sharp is a LCD/LED. Last edited by oppopioneer; 06-18-2011 at 07:13 PM. |

I'd buy a plasma made by sharp with all pioneer kuro tech, if it was even uo The only thing bad about that is of course sharp is not in the plasma game, so the first few gens would suck and sharp would want as much of there own plasma tech as possible. I don't know, I just want to see top notch displays, whoever makes them ![]() Last edited by Sonny; 06-19-2011 at 03:00 PM. |

I'm actually waiting to hear about the Sharp X5 set that's coming out latter this year. It could actually be part of the Elite line that Sharp will be putting out. Here's a couple of quotes from Robert Zohn (Value Electronics) that definitely have me interested. Quote:

I have seen Sharp consistently demonstrate over the years an uncanny capacity for clumsy implementation of video technology (yellow pixels anyone?). Their past and recent TVs have been difficult to incapable of full calibration to video industry standards. The marketing department tends to scuttle the engineering department. In other words, for a correct delivery of the original video signal, go elsewhere. Their displays may be pleasant enough for many folks to look at, just not accurate.
Resolution is primarily a function of viewing distance/screen size. It's also down on the list of most important picture quality characteristics that define a good video image. Sit far enough away and detail is lost. Sit too close and pixels structure becomes visible. Larger screen size has limitations in use, due to head motion and the resulting viewer fatigue.
