Has anyone bought this, released today? I read elsewhere that the US version suffered from banding issues, and was wondering if the UK version is identical, or if these issues have been fixed.

I have the Polish blu-ray, and I didn't notice any banding with that release, but at the same time the extras look to be different to the UK one, plus UK has Atmos (which I don't have, but good for future-proofing).

Just got this a few hours ago from Amazon. Will give it a watch tonight and report back, unless someone beats me to it.

You want either the SE/NO/FI/DK releases as the UK is the same.

The UK has a new special feature that the US disc doesn't have, so it's not just a direct port of that disc. Is it definite the video encode is the same though?

Watched the movie and didn't notice any banding, if there was any it must have been minor.

There is still some banding but it's only in very select moments, the general awfulness of the US version has been fixed! I just posted this in the UHD section:

Just bought it in Tesco. Nice little surprise inside the case which I wasn't expecting - a little booklet on Desmond Doss.

I also didn't know AV Forums were advertising inside the film cases as well!

Yes, they've had a flier in the UK Lionsgate UHDs from day one. Sicario even has an 'AVF Approved' (or whatever) logo on it.

Is this booklet exclusive to the UHD or in the standard BD as well ?

Am waiting for the standard BD to drop into HMV's 2 for £25 offer, almost certainly next week, as Lionsgate and HMV normally only add the week after release, rather than the day 1 of some other studios.

I'm not sure, sorry. I bought the UHD version because I'm an optimistic mug who hopes his wife will let him go 4k one day.

I've just pre-ordered a couple of UHD releases and it's got me looking at 4K TV's and Blu Ray players

Could be an expensive pre-order

Maybe not if we have an extra feature that the US disc didn't have.

Well it's definite that it's a new encode now, so bye bye colour banding (well, it's MOSTLY all gone at least)!

Has anyone had problems playing this disc? I watched it last weekend, and the disc only loaded on the second attempt, after turning my player off and on again. I tried it again tonight to watch the special features and it took about 5 attempts before it finally recognised the disc and loaded.

Anyway, I've ordered a replacement, hopefully that'll sort it out.

No mate, I watched mine the other day and it was fine. Sounds like you just got a dodgy one.

Amazingly: I've yet to see this film. I'll probably pick it up in a offer sometime.
