Default DLP Question: Samsung or Mitsubishi

Kind of out of the blue my parents decided they wanted to get a DLP TV this weekend. I haven't done much research and likely won't have much time between now and tomorrow. My last two tv puchases have been flat screens so I am not even sure which brand of rear projections have good reputations or what features I want to key or common problems to look for. Any pointers of what to look for in the store would be appreciated.
They are looking for something in the 60 inch range (+/- 5 inches) and around $2000. In this mornings Fry's ad. I noticed:

65" Mitsubishi 1080p DLP for 2199 (Frys, Bestbuy)
61" Samsung 1080p DLP with LED engine (Frys, Best Buy)

I'm leaning towards the Samsung because of the LED engine and I haven't been a huge fan of Mitsubishi from what I have seen in stores, but I really have only just glanced at them and the way things are set up in the stores . . . you just never know.

Anyhow any thoughts, comments and/or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have had 2 Samsung DLP's. My latest is the LED DLP. I highly recommend any Samsung DLP. The colors on their new LED DLP's are amazing.

Did you get a chance to compare it to other models?

What did you look for when made your choice

Thanks

i own 2 samsung dlp's one 1080p and the other is only 720p. my 1080p is not LED, but i absolutely love it. there are some things to consider. is the viewing area going to be from different angles and heights? my set up is ideal for a dlp tv b/c the view is all straight on from about 9ft, but if i was to lay on the floor and watch, my view would be completely different. it would be brighter on the bottom and gradually get darker as i looked to the top of my tv.

samsung dlp's are great for the price.

I used to be a huge fan of Mitsubishi TV's, as their CRT RPTV's were pretty much unrivaled. Their DLP's, however, don't live up to the same quality, IMO. I've never seen a Mitsubishi DLP "pop" like the Samsungs. So . . . I'd vote Samsung. Mitsu's 82" LCOS from a few years ago was amazing, though

I compared the Samsung LED DLP with many other TV's including LCD's and plasmas. In my price range, it came down to the Sony 50" SXRD and the Samsung 50" LED DLP (HLT5089S). I liked the detail on the Sony a lot, but I liked the vivid/deep colors, the HDMI 1.3 capability, and the long life of the LED tecnology better. I also preferred the overall look of the Samsung with it's piano black frame.

That Samsung is a good price at Amazon also:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HLT618...blurayforum-20

It has free shipping and no tax as well

As for Mitsubishi versus Samsung, I have a Samsung DLP and love it (non-LED).
Unless it is a "Diamond Series" set from Mitsubishi I would lean towards the Samsung.

Another vote for the Samsung. I have a 56" DLP and it is great for hi-def.

I have the Sammy 6187 and I'm loving my set!
I didn't compare it to the mitsu but I did like it better than a similar size Toshiba at BJs.
The LED system is pretty amazing and you don't have to worry about changing lamps every couple of years.
