Great news. This is a brilliant piece of satire from Paddy Chayefsky. I actually like it better than Network. Definitely looking forward to getting this one.

Great news TT. I've been contemplating getting the old DVD for a while now, so this was good timing for me.

This movie smolders! Paddy's words out of George C. Scott = take no prisoners!

"My nurses have been fully trained."

"Where? Dachau?"

Very happy to see this one finally get an upgrade; one of Scott's very best performances.

I feel it would be in their best interests if they went the Criterion route and sold titles that have barely any extras at reduced MSRP's. Otherwise, I feel like most people will just wait till it's $10-15 in a sale.

I can see the argument for what they're doing. Keeping the high MSRP means that the people who buy on day-one, the big fans who are willing to pay more, they pay. And the people who suddenly decide they need it immediately at some random time during the year, they pay. In both cases, they are paying the premium for the immediacy. Then you have people who are willing to pay a certain amount for it, those people have to be patient but it will show up eventually. And they keep the specific timing of the sales generally unpredictable, because it's harder to be patient when you don't know how long you're waiting.

I'm not saying it's the most customer-friendly model, but I get it, and I've been pretty lucky so far, I haven't had to pay more than I was willing to in order to get any of them (though I have wound up paying more than their ultimate nadir). Though I admit, if it's bare-bones, I probably will wait for the second sale when it's $15, rather than buying it at $20 during the first sale.

This is another one I ordered in the TT sale. It has me wondering about review copies. This was reviewed by Glenn Erickson at CineSavant weeks ago. Is it that Blu-ray.com doesn't get review copies from them, or that B-R.com doesn't give them priority in the review queue?

Except they aren't "keeping" a high MSRP, most blu-rays have similar MSRP's. They just don't have 3rd party sellers putting huge discounts on them.

This seems like an opaquely pedantic point, even by your usual standards.

Watched this earlier today after getting it from their recent sale. Dang fine satirical comedy about the medical world that unfortunately still feels relevant today. Sure Twilight Time's release is slim with features but for 15 dollars it's a lot cheaper than getting the DVD. The video quality was solid, a nice "organic" look to it.

They've not released any MGM/UA titles so far - or Fox (who sub-license the MGM/UA library) either for that matter. It's even more of an under the radar title in Europe than the States these days. The original standalone US DVD was out of print for years before TGG released it as a 'Crime Heist Dramas' double-bill - someone clearly never bothered to watch it - with The Bank Shot that's also deleted: the film was never released on DVD in the UK and only had a brief rental VHS release there in the 80s (the last time I believe it played on UK terrestrial TV) until it turned up to stream last year, so it's not one I can see any UK labels fighting over unless Network did really well for Arrow and they decide to go for another Chayefsky.

I ended up caving and ordering it; has already arrived, can't wait to watch it this week
