For some reason, I can never remember if cursing is okay in these forums. Instead, let's just say I was hoping it would be for the PS3.

I share your pain. Believe me.

At least it's something though....? Keeping the franchise alive and all that.

I'm glad that there is going to be a third game and all, but I too was hoping for the series to return to Playstation 3 with the third game in the series. But it seems that is not going to happen. At least the character designs look nice.

There have been stories about why Japanese developers just can't seem to reach the western audience anymore, including several statements to that effect by high profile Japanese companies.

Why is this even a question with their focus on handhelds?

In Japan handhelds are everywhere. Outside of Japan the handheld market is nothing like the Japanese handheld market. As long as they continue to focus on handhelds, their sales will continue to stagnate in the west.

The PSP because it just doesn't sell much, but even the DS has a very scattered audience, and it's nearly impossible to target more than a small part of the audience (unless you are a mario game).

I guess that's my longwinded way of saying I'm not on board with another PSP game.

I mean they even have the engine already, so the actual cost to make another PS3 game would be no where near what it was the first time.

Hopefully, Sega hears the outcry over this title being on the PSP and starts developing another PS3 entry.

I had such high hopes for a PS3 sequel - if they just took the existing engine and added some cool new stuff to it, I think I would be happy.

Not that I don't enjoy Valkyria Chronicles 2, but the VC3 character design looks so much better than Avan and his motley crew.

I still wish it were PS3, though.

Looks very nice and I like the fact that you can have someone in your group follow you when controlling one character.

EDIT: Full Trailer

This was shown in Sega's streaming of their TGS conference. Shows more than the trailer posted above and reveals that Welkin and the main cast of VC1 will at least make an appearance in the game.

I just finished the 1st one last night! Love the game. Anyone played the DLC?

I'm with everyone here that another PS3 game needs to be made.

Which DLC? I've played both DLC packs for the first game (and just got the one for the second game last night).

Both packs are good, but I think the Selvaria pack is more worth the money, since you get to play more missions and get to play as Selvaria.

Sorry, meant DLC for the 1st one. Thanks for the info about Selvaria DLC. I'd think the Edy missions are probably more of the same from the core game.

BTW- Did you like the 2nd game? I'm going to take a break from Gallia for a bit but plan to play the 2nd one later this year.

Yeah, I like the second one a lot, but I don't think it's as good as the first (nor are its characters as likable).

As for the Edy missions, they are similar to normal missions, but you have no control over deployment, which makes them extra challenging. You get a few good characters, like Jann and Marina (but they don't have their ultimate abilities yet), but you have to otherwise stick it out with Edy and her mediocre crew. It's still fun, but I think the Selvaria pack is more worthwhile.

The Selvaria DLC is the only one I went for, I looked up the Edy dlc online and I dunno, didn't really appeal to me because I can sort of replicate it with the main game.

I kind of want the EX hard mode just for the added weapons, but $5 is a bit much just for that...

Oh, FYI, since I actually got the opportunity to try, the Valkyria 2 DLC packs are better than the ones for the first game, as they integrate right into your main game and span a range of level/gear requirements.

Just to let people know that the demo for this game is available in the Japanese PSN store, so go check it out.

Things don't look good for a U.S./European release. (Article is mostly for Phantasy Star Portable, but Sega America is making it pretty clear they are done with PSP).

Quote:
Hi everyone, I have some unfortunate news for us all.

I met up with RubyEclipse at the SEGA booth and asked him the question that is on many of our minds here at PSOW: "Will there be an English release of PSPo2: Infinity?"

Here is the response that I was given:

As much as I would love to see an English release of Infinity, SEGA West is currently not looking at further PSP development. Games like PSPo2 and Valkyria Chronicles II did not sell nearly as well as we had hoped that they would. Also, we all have to take into account the heavy amount of piracy that plagues the West. It may happen at some point, but there are currently no plans for it.

In a nutshell, we can blame poor sales and pirates. His response also leads me to believe that we will not be seeing Valkyria Chronicles 3, either. We also discussed how we are both excited for PSO2 and how SEGA is going full-force with that project. Ruby also owns a Japanese copy of Infinity, but he didn't appear to know that Max Attack Infinity is currently live. My guess is that it is because of how busy he has been with E3 preparation.

There might be a brief chance of Sega releasing it, but we did get the 1st 2 games, so maybe we might get lucky and get it eventually or maybe someone else can localize it.
