Can Halo 3 really be that good? - Blu-ray Forum

It got a 9.5 at Gamespot and IGN. Usually, gamespot is very objective and I usually agree with their reviews. For instance, they gave Heavenly Sword an 8.0 while Ign only gave it at 7.0. Anyways, I'm an ex-360 owner (sh*t broke), and I did manage to play the Halo 3 beta during the summer. To me, the beta was nothing more than Halo 2's multiplayer with some new weapons and slightly better graphics. I wasn't impressed. The reviews are floating in like this game is shiznit, but I am skeptical. Thoughts?

Take all reviews(especially IGN's) with a grain of salt. After all, when it comes down to it, the best reviewer with the clearest judgment on a game or movie is yourself.

Personally, I just use reviews as guidelines and if the material is something that sounds interesting to me, I'll check it out.

That's what the review tells me, but I'm not big on the online fragfests. I'm one of the few that enjoys the solo story/campaign and after playing the other two, I'm just underwhelmed by the whole Halo universe. to each his own

The hype inflates the score from what I hear. It's as solid as the previous ones but reviewers are supposedly taking about 10-11 hours to beat it on the 2nd from hardest level... but don't expect short gameplay to knock it down any.

As much as I love the campaign, multiplayer is my thing. I have probably 30-50hrs each week on LIVE. And the only game I play is Halo 2. Nothing else really gets my attention at all.

IGN gave Halo 2 a 9.8 and Gamespot a 9.4 and I thought it blew.

But there are definitely fans so if it does the same as it has in the past they'll probably like it.

I never believe the reviews. I just buy what I think will be good.

That being said I think Halo 3 will be better than the 2nd, and possibly better than the 1st. I think the multiplayer will be amazing tho!

I was not a big fan of the second, but it was fun still. The third should be wicked. Come to think of it the only thing i hated about 2 was the arbitor part. So i am glad you are only mastercheif in this one.

i don't know if its the greatest thing since sliced bread but it will no doubt be fun and im looking forward to picking it up tonight (EB games is open till after midnight so people can pick their orders up 25th morning)

That would be sweet. As soon as I got Halo 2 and got to the arbitor part- I quit the game for about 2 months and refused to play it. I started back up when my friends challenged me. I hope its all Master Chief or I'll be pissed.

I hate the aliens so much that if a kid on my team is an Elite then I'll start commiting suicide or betraying automatically. Even if I didn't do that then we would still lose. I have a 95% loss rate if there is an elite on my team so I just start killing them even if they are on my team. Its mostly little kids, but people are just stupid. Its so much easier to kill an elite IMHO.

Reviews are 100% garbage. That new movie "Good Luck Chuck" didn't get a SINGLE star at all and I thought it was pretty funny. "Resident Evil: Extinction" was given 1.5 stars, I'll disagree and give it 3.5-4.

You can't trust reviews at all.

Not my cup of tea. The last FPS I played was Doom 2.

(OK, so I'm not much of a gamer. I wonder why I love my PS3 so much...Toshiba and M$ keep telling me it's not a Blu-ray player....)

i went to the halo 3 launch party at the local eb games got there at around 10:30pm then stood in front of the counter from 11:30pm onwards there was a decent number of people , i was the first person in warrnambool to pick up a retail copy of halo 3 and some guy was taking pictures for the eb guys so i will see if i can get copy of the picture since there is one of me posing with my brand spanking new halo 3.
