I just got a new HP Pavilion dv7-1270us laptop with a Blueray DVD player. Blueray works fine on the lap top display but when I use an HDMI cable to conect to my HD TV I get a message saying that the DVD is "protected" and cannot be displayed. I have tried several dvds and several different TVs all with the same result. Why is this so? I can find nothing in the "help" resouces on the lap top that address the issue. Why would they include the HDMI port if you cannot export the HD DVD? Do I need some special software?
Does anyone out there use an HP lap top Blueray player to view on thier TV? I am really bummed out. I have a 52" Tv and can only watch Blueray on a little laptop display. Any help or comments would be appreciated. |

Right-click any blank space on desktop -> Select "personalize display" -> select "display settings" (at bottom of the screen) -> choose your monitor and apply. It should be fairly easy to do through the display settings in Vista. You may also be able to do it with a hot-key combo; Fn + F7 is usually the one that does that. |

This is major nitpicking OP BUT:
According to the Blu-ray Disc Association the spelling of "Blu-ray" is not a mistake, the character "e" was intentionally left out so the term could be registered as a trademark. The correct full name is Blu-ray Disc, not Blu-ray Disk (incorrect spelling) The correct shortened name is Blu-ray, not Blu-Ray (incorrect capitalization) or Blue-ray (incorrect spelling) The correct abbreviation is BD, not BR or BRD (wrong abbreviation) and Blu-ray is not a DVD. Yes it is on a disc but it is a different format from DVD. |

HP newly launched laptop with Blu-ray or HD DVD drive has good result. Blu-ray burner to its special edition Area-51 laptop--which places such laptops outside the budget of many would-be buyers.
