Default Week of Oct. 16 buying spree ?

I'm just curious if anyone was thinking about a buying spree to help offset the expected "Transformers" spike on HD DVD or that any coordinated effort would be lost in the big mass market scheme? Or is Blu-ray still expected to win the sales battle that week ?

There's a huge backlog of Fox titles I'm thinking about scooping so October Blu-ray purchases are going to lighten up the wallet quite a bit (It also looks like November & December won't be any better).

Not sure I want to wait that long for the new titles I am eyeballing. Even though blu-ray will continue to win the overall sales figures, those bean counters get really anal when they don't see those numbers fly off the charts for one week. I will keep blu in the black, though.

Radio Shack is like that. Didn't matter if I rang up $700 to $1000 in sales a day, they didn't like I had 30 or 40 tickets doing it. They wanted about 15 tickets and $700 in sales averages. They are SUCH TOOLS. You can't force these averages on sales people because that was the national average. I quit in June 2004, but it was a long time after before they finally made it "dollars per hour" average. (Supposedly not counting tickets any more per sales associate.) Not much better in my opinion, but at least they understood math a little better.

I know I'll be picking up Hollow Man on 10/16. Maybe I'll go for 1 or 2 others as well.

the only problem I have with buyathons is that I only buy select movies so in reality im just holding off buying movies leading upto the specific date.

For example if I was to make purchases on the 16th the only likely candidates are the two 28 movies that I would have otherwise bought the week before.

That is what I am doing as well since this is the week that will hurt BR the most. If you are serious about support and not just fuming with the rest of the masses this particular week is a no brainer: you win and stave off HDDVD Warner will notice!!!

When I got to Wal-Mart, Best Buy and other places, I'm just going to take any Transformers HD DVDs I see and hide them around the store.

Yes, I'm evil like that.

On 10-16-07 I will be buying:

1. The Day After Tomorrow (Blu‑ray)
2. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Blu‑ray)
3. 28 Weeks Later (Blu‑ray)
4. From Hell (Blu‑ray)
5. Robocop (Blu‑ray)
6. Hollow Man: Director's Cut (Blu‑ray)
7. The Reaping (Blu‑ray)

I figured 7 Blu Ray Movies on that date "LUCK NUMBER 7".
