I vaguely remember this from back in the day, pretty cool that they're bringing it back for round 2 in 3D.

Looks interesting, pledge made. Great to see these projects on KS.

Happy to support this release.

I wonder if the discs will be BD-Rs...

I find this campaign somewhat ridiculous, mainly the asking goal of about 75000$.
I don’t think the 3DFA as ever asked for such high funding, and their efforts involve scanning, cleaning and alignment. This one at best involves re-rendering both eyes of the 3D edition, and since it comes with a 2D only disc, I would say that is probably the original disc just re-pressed again. So add to that authoring for the 3D disc, and then maybe(not confirmed) having the disc professionally pressed. 75k is allot of money for that. This is after all a 22 minute short movie.
I think this had better chance if they had supported the manufacturing costs and made the 2000 editions they are asking for funding and have a limited run. Then I can see this selling out based on word of mouth.
But as it stands, I doubt this will get funded. This feels like someone decided to get a payday at 3D’s expense.
Looking at Halloween Jack and Crime Squad as good examples of reasonable campaigns that offered lots of perks and were made on a budget.
75000 dollars to have 2000 blu-ray produced? Get out of here.

Yeah, they're reaching for the moon, it'll never get funded with what they're asking for (which explains why most of their other campaigns are unsuccessful). They're doing nothing with the campaign either, no updates since launching. Nobody likes creators that think they can just put something out there and not do anything else to show why it's worth backing.

Look at the Crime Squad campaign for comparison, Murchie has posted an update pretty much every day and even gave a shout out to the Cat Shit campaign. It's actually kind of sad Cat Shit has more backers than Crime Squad but in the end those 3D bunnies likely won't succeed in getting any money while Crime Squad has already hit their goal.

Me, too.

12 years ago, it was released on DVD and Blu-ray. I think these were official pressed ones (correct me, if I am wrong), so I think the 3D Blu-ray might be an official pressed, too, if they release it with the already released DVD and Blu-ray together in a package.

I think so, too.

I did not know about this Kickstarter project, if Andrew Murchie did not mention it in the one update video clip.

I hope it will get fully funded, but I sadly do not believe that it will 🐰 🐰.

There is a 2D version of the film on amazon.com being offered as an import from Japan it looks like.

On Kickstarter, it's listed as a short film, 22 minutes in length, with 75 minutes of extras on disc if it happens, shipping not included in the initial pledge amount. They might have success on IndieGoGo if that's still around, which is flexible.

At that pledge goal of $75,000 or roughly $1 million Yen, I'm guessing 1970+ disc sets could be produced if they're charging $38 each plus shipping separately. Correct me if I'm off.

I don't see any video on that page yet, but did find the trailer on youtube. Nice art style and animation. Viewer Discretion advised:

The Amazon one is being sold for around 140$. That is a no go for most people.
They need 2020 pledgers to fund this campaign. It’s not gonna happen.
Ideally this one have been self funded and placed on sale at a limited run. That way and with word of mouth I can see them selling out.
For what they are asking, I would have expected them to be trying to finish the show and asking for funds to do it.
It is a shame as this probably looks amazing in 3D, specially as they are re-rendering both eyes in HD.

That's a lot, yes.
If this was feature length 90 minutes, and not 22 minutes, I'd consider it, but it's $40+11 shipping or more just about for a cost of probably $55 with tax for 22 minutes of 3D, and 75 minutes extras probably in 2D, so it's just not enough runtime to take a chance IMO, though I like the style of the character art. I just don't know what to expect with the 3D. Are they aiming for mild, medium or strong 3D? They didn't show any examples of what to expect for the 3D.

That title initially made me think this might be a prank thread or something, but I saw it was really the name of the animated short film surprisingly.

$50 each, after shipping? 22 minutes? $75,000 goal? No additional rewards or goals?

I can't believe the name is the least ridiculous thing about this project.

Is this a sign of another post-Avatar 3D boom?

I'm of the opinion that the prices, which IMO were gouging, did 3D in the last time. If this is a nu boom, hopefully the pricing on this 'un will be an outlier.

$6,670
pledged of $75,376 goal
147
backers
15days to go

If they're open minded to it, IndieGoGo .com could be an option as it doesn't require meeting the goal. So if only 200 support it, that might be enough for 200 disc sets. It might also depend on the manufacturer's pricing scale limit.
