10.16.07 Transformers / clarificaton request

OK So I'm planning a decent purchase on the 16th. Many of these are pre-orders. Will these count as a purchase on the 16th? Or on the day the items are shipped and the money transferred?

I do want to help the 16th sales figures.

If you are referring to the Nielsen/Videoscan numbers then it is not so much a day as it is a week. If you are purchasing from Amazon, one of the few if not the only online retailer to report to Nielsen then like any other situation it wont be counted until it is shipped.

Pre-orders are not sales and are not counted in Nielsen Videoscan sales statistics. Amazon does not charge you or ring it through the POS (Point of Sale) until the pre-order changes to in stock and is delivered.

I didn't even try to figure it out. I buy movies when I want them, not when someone decides to have a buy-a-thon. That way the sales numbers are bit more constant as opposed to dropping sales numbers, then one big day, then no sales again... But that's just me.

Here's a handy dandy guide:

If you buy it at a national retail store that's not Wal-Mart, it counts

If you don't buy it online from Amazon(or one of the above retail stores) it doesn't count

Pre-orders only count for the week it actually ships to you

If your purchasing Transformers on hddvd, what the hell does it matter, buy it on the 17th.

Buy Blu-ray's on the 16th of October!!!!

I do not buy HD DVDs. Sorry, I thought that was understood, this being the Blu-ray forum.

Yeah, I'm looking for things to buy on the 16th, but most of what I want will be released thereafter.
