Default A request for a new section

Since HD Audio (PCM especially) is one MAJOR advantage blu-ray has, I propose there be an "audiophile" (or just audio) section of the forums for us severe audio nuts to have our discussions about the audio on BD's, our home theatre audio setups, "discussions" (aka ramblings in tech jargon) and "arguments" over HD sound formats, ways to setup 5.1 and 7.1 systems, calibrations, how to get the best sound (HDMI, I-link, optical) with each of the HD sound formats, blah blah blah, the list goes on.

I just think that all of this could do with a section of its own, since I'm sure that many people in the general discussion could do without all of the jargon and snobbery involved when discussing hi-def audio?

Anyone concur?

I would participate, especially since I will be upgrading the sound side of my system soon.

I guess this stuff is intended for the "Home Theater Discussion" section under the current arrangement.

Somehow I feel like this thread was prompted by our recent debate. I think this would be a great idea and would keep other threads from going off topic. Any other takers?

I have always been interested in how to judge the quality of sound. It is far more difficult to hear the differences than to see them, and I would like to see if someone would be able to give a general idea or tutorial to teach people what to listen to for sound.
As far as video goes there are lots of things to look for to determine the quality (compression, haloing, aliasing, etc. etc. etc.) but what are the aspects of sound we should listen for?
A new thread might help some of us (i.e. ME) to better understand how an audiophile hears things differently.

I would love to participate in such a section of this forum!! I for one am more impressed with HD sound on Bluray than I am with HD picture (although they are both really nice!)
