Default Any Queensryche Fans in here?

Might be a long shot, but thought I'd ask if anybody has the Empire DVD-A.

I just bought it on Amazon. Hoping it's pretty good. Was really bummed they didn't make a DVD-A or SACD of Operation: Mindcrime.

Ya. I have it. One of the original Capital/EMI releases. It's good but not the greatest either ( IMO all Capital DVDA's where like this - just my IMO). You can tell that it's HiRez & has discrete 5.1 as soon as you pop it into your DVDA player. Two video's (Jet City Woman & Silent Lucidity). I love Silent Lucidity on HiRez. I believe that Geoff Tate has a solo DVDA out as well.

Watched/listened to it last night.

Pretty good, but not super. I mean, it's better than a standard CD, but doesn't compare to some of the SACDs I have.

I do like the mixed media aspect. Watching the lyrics as the songs play is pretty nifty!

They stopped making those because on some players the audio would hiccup during a page change. Queen NATO was notorious for that. I still can't play that on my Denon.

I used to be a huge fan, but Empire was the last I saw them or really followed them, grunge had taken over by then. I did come across my old Operation:Livecrime box the other day, but it's a cassette + VHS, so I can't bring myself to pop either in. The long form video for Video:Mindcrime was a mindblowing experience that I also still have on VHS. Was this ever released to DVD even?

I have both on DVD. Livecrime is available as a single DVD. Video Mindcrime is in the 3-disc Operation: Mindcrime Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately it only has its original VHS MONO audio track still.

That box is very cool. I wonder if it was shot on VHS, hows the PQ? I'd definitely pick up on Blu if simply for nostalgia's sake. Probably unlikely on Blu though

I have not popped it in since I got my HDTV. I'll have to watch it again and report back.

Correct, as is Empire by Queensrÿche.

See DVD-Audio store under 'Hard Rock/Metal'

While it may not be a reference title compared to some other SACD's and DVD-A's...the DVD-A of Empire is easily the definitive version and blows the CD out of the water.

Come on...don't tell me you didn't have a huge turd-eating grin on your face the first time you cranked Silent Lucidity...it's a great surround mix and LOADS of LFE action going on there.

There's an SACD of Empire??? Guess it doesn't matter if the DVD-A is better.

BTW, I did really enjoy Silent Lucidity...turd eating grin...LOL!

"Della Brown" is really good, as well!

I've never heard of one, and I've been around in SACD for about 10 years. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

I have the Geoff Tate solo DVDA which is pretty decent ...

Was a big Queensryche fan through "hear in the now frontier" , probably the last solid album they did , most have been clunkers since then
Still a big fan of the Warning & rage for order , also Promised land .

Seen them a couple times live, once opening for Metallica (Justic tour) and once for Empire & full Livecrime performance. They kind of fell apart after Empire EVen got a few CDs signed. One thing sticks out from meeting them, they were all really short

I saw them once in Seattle for the Empire tour & twice in California (SF & LA) for the Mindcrime II tour. It was pretty cool; both Mindcrime I & II in their entirety.

I have the remastered disc and it sounds very good to these ears. I wanna say it's the original master recording remaster from 2002.
