Unhappy Ps3 - Connecting to my existing set-up

First time poster, long time lurker. Great blu-site. I'm keen on taking the plunge and buying a BR player (probably PS3 - tomorrow!) and I've a couple of questions, I'd appreciate your insight as I'm ?

1) I have a Philips Universal Remote (SRU9600) based on IR. Is it possible to get a IR USB adapter (or something) for the PS3 to work with my uni? Any good websites?
2) My current setup is

-philips cineos 1080i tv (37PF9731D)
-cineos HTS9800 surround system system
-Wii
-Sky+ box

The HTS only supports 1 digital co-axial in, 1 AUX etc, whereas many of the other boxes use digital optical (like the PS3) - rather than buy point devices to covert optical to digital I'm keen on getting a connection station? with a number of HDMI In/Out, AUX In/Out, Digital Optical In/Audio Out type connections which I can use to streamline the cables and without the risk of delays? Currently, I have to feed the wii audio to the tv, and back from the digi out on the tv to the surround system system (which results in a delay - 2m cables) to avoid having to switch the AUX cables (from the wii to sky+ box - equiv. to Tivo I believe

I don't want to invest and suffer the same fate with the Ps3.

Does such a device exist, and if so what would you recommend? Apologies for the longish post.

TIA.

I doubt this can happened. The ps3 has bluetooth technology. I know its a pain with having several remotes, but that bluetooth one is really nice. U wont have to be in front of the tv anymore, basicaly from anywhere in your home you can start it, pause it or whatever

well, good hdmi/audio switches can be pretty expensive...something like this is what you mean?

Zektor MAS7.1 ($600)

the weakest link in your chain that I notice is your sound system. You definitely want to upgrade that if anything.

You should think of getting an HDMI receiver wich is capable of multiple hdmi/audio sources like the Zektor switch, only at a much more affordable price and giving much more option.

if youre not looking to spend a ton, take a look at these entry level HDMI receivers:

Yamaha RX-V661 ($500)

ONKYO TX-SR605 ($430)

Sony STR-DG910 ($350)

...Maybe look for a holiday sale for these receivers, but upgrading your sound system is my recommendation.

Guys - Thanks for the prompt responses. I wish I was less of an impulse buyer!! Most of the kit mentioned was bought in a frenzie about 8 months ago, before I really got into codecs, 1080p, Blu!
