I'll pay extra to get the steelbooks if they're from the same studios that release the domestic copies (or at least other reliable studios). But, for instance, I trust Disney to do a good job with Kill Bill much more than I trust TF1 Video (whoever the heck they are!).

France is in the Region B grouping, so these would have to be region free for us to be able to play them. I don't know TF1's stance on region encoding - blurayregioncodes.com shows them as having one region free title, but that's hardly enough evidence to give a conclusive answer.

So Im curious, are steelbook cases just not popular in the United States, thus their relative rarity (or nonexistence when it comes to Blu-Ray steelbooks), or are there other issues at hand that keep steelbook cases from cropping up here?

There are only three Blu-Ray steelbooks in the North American market right now, correct? I Am Legend (Futureshop Canada), and the two upcoming other Futureshop Canada releases of Iron Man and Indiana Jones?

Steelbooks in the US are mainly found on DVDs, They have a manufacturing plant on Ohio. The DVD aspect of it didnt take off all that well and they dont judge the popularity of products based on an internet forum either. Its sales numbers. For now , all we get in the US is dvds

I think they are on Amazon France right now, they say that they are the TF1 releases but nothing about a steelbook. Is TF1 only releasing these as steelbooks or are they doing a standard release as well?
